I've posted this on the beta boards, but with the massive ammounts of posts it gets swallowed up before any real debate can be had... so I figured I'd post it here and see what y'all thought.

I would like to see in this game more advanced certs. It is too easy to after... oh BR8 or so, see everyone as a virtual clone of each other. I would like to see more rewards for specialization (note in everything BUT vehicles) Reward us for specializing!

Just some thoughts.

Adv. Adv Engineer, Allow for upgrades to base turrets, perhaps to nade launchers or some-such. Also makes repairing faster.

Adv. Adv Hacker, Hack weapon or Vehicle terms produce the weapons or vehicles from that empire (not really all that sure about this one, but something... smarter people then me can think up)

Adv. Weapon certs. This is what I really want. Give a guy willing to spend 8 cert points on Med Assault a reward for doing so. Tighter COF (not allot just a little) Faster reload times. Just like a soldier who spends time training on a weapon beyond the basic course, they're just better with it.

Now I know the immediate argument is that BR20 monkeys will rule all with their super power specialization! I still don't think a slight advantage is too much of a ballance factor. Someone who spend sthe certs, but still hasn't the skill, will still suck. Just like all my NC brothers out there who still haven't figured out how to shoot the damn gauss.

So flame on. Let me know what you think

i'm putting my trust in the devs, in the months to come the game will evolve, the "stuff" out now is just the beggining. so if theres something that will add to the game in a good way, then u'll probably eventually see it, if not, then the devs would (hopefully) have a a reason for it

These aren't bad ideas. Who knows what'll happen in the future with any upgrades and patches. Be sure to bump this regularly in the Wish List Beta forum. It takes perseverence, but we all know how often the devs listen to us. It's rather amazing actually.

What they really need to work on is the adv. med. cert - thus far it's almost a waste of 2 cert points. You all know what I mean.

Anyway, I'd just like to say that the NC gauss gun kicks ass. I'm a TR cycler whore, but I know the benefits of the NC gauss gun and pry it away from a corpse every chance I get. ;)

About the more advanced certs, you must remember that if they went into more detail in the certs so that every person had different qualifications, then the FPS would look more like a RPG.. Their goal isnt a MMORPG... its a MMOFPS, with more detailed certs that's the way they'd be headed. if you want a RPG, get EQ or AC. Your buying a fps not a rpg, i thought everyone made that clear already?

I agree somewhat, but it is actually an FPS with RPG elements.

An FPS is attempting to simulate a war environment. In a War environment different people have different levels of training and qualification.

I just think that more specialization would help with retention, and breed a better team environment.

So no, not trying to take an FPS to RPG, just saying that they put the cert system in to foster team play, might as well make it mean something.

yah i think your both right as long as they dont take the certs so far it will still remain a FPS. I think a little more adv certs will be pretty nice.
