Note:This guide is not for people who want a cliff noted version on how to be an infiltrator, This is a fairly large guide so either read it all, or dont read it at all.

Infiltrator's Guide

In this guide i will cover every possible aspect of an "Infiltrator". Everything from loadout's to tactics. For those who dont know, An "Infiltrator" is a soldier who utilizes the "Infiltration Armor" to gain access to an enemy facility using stealth, and the lowest amount of force possible. An infiltrator is a menace to the opposing empire, A skilled infiltrator can infiltrate deep into the enemy lines and take over an enemy facility without the opposing force having any clue as to what hit them. An infiltrator is also an essential member of a squad. Without an infiltrator, Hacking an enemy facility will be much harder. The plus's too having an infiltrator in your squad are having access to detailed recon, stealth abilities, and otherwise incredibly usefull skill's not accessible by any other squad member.

Infiltrator's Tools

The infiltrator's best friends are his/her tool's. An infiltrator has size for 4 ammo crates. An infiltrator's loadout can be varied in many ways. Although i love to carry a medkit when i am a grunt, It simply isn't going to work out when you are an infiltrator, Besides, A good infiltrator goes un-noticed. Having your inventory open at all times for quick access is a good idea. I utilize an AMP to take out soldiers only when they see me, 90% of the time, The AMP is equipped. I also carry a plasma grenade for an extra punch, along with a REK, and 2 ammo case's (it can get heated).

Infiltrator's ROE(Rules Of Engagement)

When deciding wether or not you are going to engage an enemy, You have to decide what chances you have of taking him out, being discovered, or jeopardizing your mission. When discharging your weapon, You want to make sure it is the right decision, Or else your mission can come to a crashing end quickly. I dont engage unless im detected. It is easy to tell if someone detect's you. Watch there "Body Language". When an enemy soldier is running, and he all of a sudden rotates his body and pulls out a weapon, Your best bet is to come out of the crouch, and run at the soldier weapons blazing. The AMP works much better at close range therefore increasing your chance's of a victory. When you run at the soldier, He become's very easily confused often shooting in the wrong direction. If you are crouched, and the darklight icon appears, Hightail it out of there as fast as you can. If you think you can defeat the enemy, I.E. if he is another infiltrator or a light armor, Run at him again and try to get behind him. So my point is, Dont shoot unless your life is in jeopardy.

Infiltrator's Tactic's.

When you are an infiltrator, Tactic's and stealth are priceless. When approaching an enemy base. Make sure you are crouched and walking. Yes you may be walking for minutes at a time, But when you are crouched, it takes a very skilled eye to get detected. Once inside the base, Survey the area for spitfire turret's and mines. If there are none, You can make your way towards the base entrance. When you do encounter a spitfire turret, crouch, and walk. If you forget to do this, and you are targeted, Stop running, and do NOT shoot back. The spitfire turret will cease fire and if lucky, you will survive. If you do encounter a mine, do not try and disable it if there are enemies around, Taking such a risk is not worth it at all, Instead you can relay the position of deployables back to your commander where he can take that information and relay it to the squad.

After succesfully entering the base, Stay crouched and be aware of your surroundings. Walking in 3rd person view can help tremendously. Also make sure to check your rear. If you do see a soldier, stop, and if possible, run to a corner. When climbing stairs, make sure to stay on the very outside of the stairs to lessen the chance an enemy soldier will run into you. If you encounter a Med terminal or Equipment terminal, take a moment to hack them. When you make it to the control console, Survey the scene again. If you do not see any enemies, SLOWLY make your way towards the CC, If there are enemies inside the CC, wait outside until one is not paying attention or not looking, it may take a few minutes, But you will get your chance. Seize the opportunity and run into the CC and crouch in a corner. Relay the enemies positions and armor type's back to the commander. When crouched, you can move your torso left to right and up and down without being spotted and staying completely invisible.

Now comes the important part, Hacking. It is a great idea to get hacking and advanced hacking certification's when you are an infiltrator. This makes thehackgomuch faster, and can also be very useful as mentioned earlier. When there are no enemies in your immediate area, go towards the CC, get as close as possible, crouch and start your hack. It is a good idea to stay in third person view to watch for enemies sneaking up behind you. If you do encounter an enemy during the hack, Release from the hack and run for cover, I have successfully made it out of the CC with a small amount of health plenty of times because of my reaction to enemy fire. If you do successfully hack the terminal, An influx of enemies will come, Run to a corner and stay crouched and don't move. By this time, Your squad should be covering the CC and you should be home free.

If you're lucky, the members of the enemy may be stupid.

Example: I was hacking back a base from the VS when two VS Reinforced Armors crawled up on me and started looking DIRECTLY at me. I'm serious. But I managed to hack the remaining 2 minutes without any interruption. Then I capped both of them and died when another one came in with darklight

You only kill people when they've noticed you?

Bet you die a lot. :D If they've noticed you, a lot of the time, it's too late(at least, whenever I notice an infiltrator, they always die soon thereafer ;-) ). If there's an enemy alone(and standing still), I usually kill him.

Something you didn't put in the guide - NEVER walk through a door right after you open it. Open the door, move off to the side for a few seconds, _then_ walk(crouched) through it. Many people(by that meaning, me and anybody as incredibly smart as me ;-) ) will fire at a door right when it opens, expecting an infiltrator to come through. Sometimes it's even better to wait for an enemy soldier to open the door and walk through it in front of you, less chances people will be looking for you to come through it.

This is a good guide. There are a few things I would disagree with, however. I always cary a med pack. It can be very useful. It is never that hard to find ammo on the field. That is especially true if you are using an AMP. After all, what non-vanu doesn't have standard ammo on them? I use a scatter pistol, but I still cary a med pack. Just hack a terminal if you need more. The med pack can be very useful. This brings me to my next point. I know you are a bloody Terran, Squeeky, so this doesn't apply to you, but to all my NC brethren, i suggest you carry a Scatter-Pistol instead on an AMP. It delivers a great amount of damage at close range. It can kill faster than an AMP. What more could an infl ask for? Lastly, why only kill when you are noticed. One of the best parts of being an infl is being able to kill without being noticed. 9 times out of 10, in a hectic battle situation, if i come across a group of several enemies, I can take a few out and not get noticed. They are too distracted by my friends on the other side of the wall. Everything else is good. Again, good job with the guide Squeeky.

I'm a bloody Terran myself, and I just have to say that the NC's have the best looking infil suits out there along with the best knife to be used with the infiltration suit (they don't make that damn chainsaw noise and don't glow as much as the Vanu knife) AND they have the scatter pistol (which I'd have to agree is the most effective). *big sigh for me* :o

As soon as i got up to the point where i could have two certs. I noticed small changes in my playing style. More jammer nades and less plasma. Only using pistols when i find them and never reloading them. Just drop or destroy and wait for another to present itself. Found usually when i am scavenging a health kit. As an infiltrator you can only carry so much crap. So alot of stuff i look for on the way. As a result i have had to become very good at inventory managment. I also keep a ton of health kits and nades of all types in my locker. It takes like 7 or 8 plasma nades to take out a max so unless thats all you carry. Engaging maxs can be fruitless. Going up against darklighters and audio ampers??? Keep your jammer in hand. Be quik to switch the plasmas. Don't take to long in killing him or you'll need to rejammer him.

Thx Squeek, learned a couple of cool things. One thing I don't know that I come accross ALL the time is: What is the easiest way to defeat mines with such a limited inventory? Was outside a very hot enemy tower the other day, tons of enemy infantry and such running around and there were mines in front of both doors. I tried to destroy the mines with my handgun, but I ran out of ammo before I could do it. Haven't had time to test anything since cause of work, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

JAMMERS!!! Does nobody believe me? Walk into a mine field and throw a jammer at the mine and see what happens. Same thing vs. Boomers.

nice guide, but i, personally, carry the crappy beamer untill i find a repater or something. The amp is useless past shove-it-up-your-ass-and-pull-the-trigger range, and at that range, i'll be using my secondary knife+melee booster. Hehe 1 or 2 hits=ded, and i can accually pull off 2 b4 they realize whats up.

So then if im trying to go long range or blow up a spitfire i find a rock, switch to secondary on beamer (yay no more 2x ammo consumption) and procede to blow it up and dodge the fire.

Of course, im prolly gonna drop my 2 ammo crates and plasma nade for some aces if i ever get that many cert points again

Oh, now aces are a whole different element. Plant boomers on five spitfires and blow them all one right after another. Infil/combat-engi is sweet. Carry nothing but aces and scavenge everything else.
