Hi I'm waiting for the beta to download as I post this. Wiating for it to download I am wondering something. Which roles are needed the most yet people shun it's because it's: boring, stupid, hard. I wish to know this becuase I want to help fill these roles.

That's mighty admirable of you. But everyone seems to be doing just about everything. Just one of the many reasons why I love this game so much. :) Just do what you think is fun. Experimentation is great... just like in bed... errr... I mean Planetside. :p

Great to know! In most games I get stuck with the "boring" jobs. i.e. Mg ammo supply (Day of Defeat), Defensive Engineer (Battlefield 1942), Base monkey (Natural Selection). Grea to know that every job is appreciated and not skiped over becuase you might spend 2 mintues way from combat, although it look like I be the lead driver in an ANT convoy though....

You'll find that there aren't really any 'roles' unless you decide to make one. In other words, even halfway through the leveling process, you'll have enough certs to do many different things, so there is no true specialization.

I would say medics are the least played & used, but I have noticed more and more as people learn the game better.

thats wot I thought, many have said, "u dont have certs 4 everything so u have 2 specialize".
I didnt knew wot they ment since to b a medic u only need certs for 5 points+ maybe a weapon and armour, so 2 b a medic u only need 10 cert points MAX.
3 reinforced
3 basic medic
2 advanced medic
2 medium assault.

Don't be a medic unless you are in a strongly organized outfit or you are a masochist. It's hard to be useful as a medic it seems.

Before you cert in a non-combat role (Galaxy, engineering, hacking, etc), get a combat cert or two to help you earn experience quickly.

Hmmm..... medics and engineers can SOMETIMES be uselsess when all the n00bs run around and don't sit still when you try to heal/repair them. Also, many people don't wait fir adv. medics to revive them. Medics and engineers can be extremly rewrding when you are in a squad who knos you will heal them and repair them, and they will love you. Medics/engineers aren't shunned or the least filled occupation, (well, maybe) it's just that some people don't know how to sit still, and not release. Anyother thing, you can be an adv medic and cmbat engineer and still be able to use a chaingun, its not like once you're a medic, all you can carry is a heal pack thinger and a pistol.

EDIT: Actually, engineers are more usful then medics right now, people actually LISTEN to them, lol. To lazy to take out all the stuff in post about engineers

Aren't scouts a really ignored role?

Oh, and off-topic, to {}Muad'Dib{}:
Do you play Jedi Knight 2? And if so, under the name Muad'Dib??

Because I was owning a guy last night in the "HuntingWabbits" FFA server :D
I play under the name |Ghost|

Naw have to save up for Planetside. And I play under the name {}Muad'Dib{} because I kinda use for everything. And it prevent me from being Muad'Dib(2) which is one of my biggest pet peves.

Anyways back on topic....

Thanks for the response guys! It make me feel good that I won't the the whipping boy in this gamelike like I am in so many other ones! And scouting sounds like a cool role. Infiltration suit on a wraith reporting the position of an enemy armored column for a squaren of reavers....
:D

Yes if you're going to get a skill Engineering is easily the most useful.

- heal your own armor
- heal allies armor (MAX units will love you)
- Repair vehicles
- Repair Generator (HUGE plus)
- Repair consoles (sometimes this is a real lifesaver)

Medic ... can only heal health.

Hacking ... only speeds up an ability everyone already has (and ya you can hack med terminals, not a big deal)

Of course the advanced in these skills is a different matter (medic still sucks), but clearly Engineering is the best way to spend 3 certs if you want a skill.

acid, medics can also revive teammates, its invaluable in outfits.

I was mainly comparing the basic abilities, not advanced. I think investing 5 certs to be able to revive is a huge waste, personally.

The area that I've seen adv. medics to be most beneficial at would have to be the cc room when you've just hacked it and are awaiting the coming onslaught of the base's defense troop. Engies and medics can save the day up there.
