View Full Version : Weapon sounds
How do the weapons sound ingame?
I saw a demo movie a while back, and was pretty disappointed about the sounds the rifle had :( Has it been changed? Do the others sound any good?
I know this is pretty much semantics, but I am the kind of player that would rather use the cool sounding weapon than the supergun that sounds like a popgun :D

The machine guns in the clips from game play all sounded like coffee grinders. Some pathetic sound effects. Hopefully it's a bit better or hopefully we can edit them. :brow:

What about AA or SOF2??? So it's pretty much just decent? That kinda suck cause I got this cool surround sound thing going....

I think AA has pretty good sound. Of course, I don't always care that much about the quality of the sound, but the actual sound itself. For example, I would rather have something like a loud machine gun for a Gauss instead of some silenced pistol type of sound. I have played games where the most powerful of assault rifles sounded like little pea shooters.

im sure the sound quality in teh clips are degraded as well as the video quality. thats why there are varying views on how everything looks/sounds/seems.

I know this is off topic, did that Quantike Ruakdofnvsoie guy make that sig for you or what? IT'S COOL! Also, I hear you have to have someone "host" your sig, what's that? Sorry hamma.

Yes he did make my sig. I posted on a thread asking if anyone would be kind enough to make me a sig and he did :D Oh and yes you do need someone to host your sig. You can do this by either going to a sig hosting website and get an account or sign up for some free webspace and put it on there. Just make sure it's not Geocities or some crap like that. I use Netfirms but you have to use FTP.

It's good but you should make the font/color of your name a different one or change the background. It just looks like a big purple blob.

How many posts do you need to get a sig? is it 20 or 50?

20 for an avatar. You can have a sig whenever.

I would ASSUME you wouldn't be able to change soundpacks, due to the fact that it will come up looking like a differn't file to the server and it might apear your using it to cheat.
Example, Counterstike people sometimes replace CT with solid Green models, and T's with Solid red, so they can distinguish between them and they can't camp shadows.
Example, You might change the footstep sound to something louder so you can hear them coming better.
Example, you might tamper with lighting effects so there are no shadows
Therefore if your files aren't uniform with the server you may not be allowed to login, get kicked, or banned for cheating.
I know one of the Gaming leagues requires all files to be uniform and standard, with standard game settings (like Gravity) in order for the match to count.
Hope that Helps

It's possible to do that I know Tribes 2 ended up like that. People editing sounds for cloak pack and what not so they could hear them when they were near. Well maybe the devs could release a better soundpack for the game if the current sounds aren't any good.

Some were very good. Others well... weren't... machine gun was one of those. Maybe it was the quality of sound of the video but it sure didn't sound very good at all. :(

I didn't mind it, I guess I'm not too picky when it comes to sounds.

Sounds play a big part in games. Makes the player get more into it if the sound is really good. Doom 3 is supposed to be like that.

The weapons sounds in alot of the videos DO sound like crap.. Uh, but it's prebeta guys. I'm fairly certain that much will change before release. (Say no to Floating buggies!)
