View Full Version : Striker damage nerfed?

I seem to be doing a lot less damage, or requiring a lot more shots, to kill enemy MAX's or reaver/mosquitos with my striker. Does anyone else notice this, or am I looped up on goofballs?

Unless they worked it into one of these latest patches, because as of last weekend I was still dropping MAX in 4 shots as usual.

I locked on to a VS MAX tonight, and put 5 shots from the stryker into him before he ran away.
5 shots, and I saw them hit. He didn't go down.
I thought 4 shots was a great number!

I put 6 into a MAX three different times last night, before they went down. It seems I'm having the same problem with Mosquitos/Reavers as well. If it was just MAX's, then perhaps they have the "personal shield implant" (does that work with max's?). But I don't think that's the case because it seems to be that way a lot the past day and a half.

I think the Striker was nerfed, which is dissapointing. It's weakness was suppossed to be the reloads and size of ammunition....but I guess that's up to the dev's.

....decimator....
it will never do ya wrong.
while the "missle lock" will send most reavers/skeeters/MAX running...a decimator will send them straight to PS heaven.

I put 6 for sure, and maybe 7 pheonixs on a max's chest and he didn't die - SJ said the Pheonix could have a bug- so it's possible

It's a reported bug, they did something in the last patch that accidently screwed with the damage quotients for lock-on or camera guided weapons. Lancer appears to still be nominal

Figures, and i thought it was just me.
I traded my Striker away in dismay for a rocklet and am actually impressed. If they fix the striker i should go back and see if im back to KILLING things again. (I complained for hours and since no one else agreed i thought it was just me that had suddenly started sucking after being able to down maxes and reavers constantly)

Patch bug.
So today I decided between Anti-Vehicle or Special Assault. Gues which i chose! Anti-Vehicle. Someone wanna explain to me whether the special assault weapons are better. I dont see them as very useful in vr room.
BTW Im a TR!

i'll kill you staz for already being in beta... ugh... my download just froze at 29% after 14 hours. I swear i'm either going to slit my throat from ear to ear or cut my wrists in a nice bath. I should do a poll.
Im sorry buds. Im Br6 and all to! *not rubbing it in*

AV is the lock on AV weapon. It can also fire in dumb mode.
SA weapons are:
the Decimator( My personal Fave, I carry 2) a 3 shot disposable
MAX/Tank/Vehicle/Reaver/Skeeter/Galaxy nightmare in a tube.
The Rocket gun: kinda like the on shot Med assault one, but on roinds and shoot 6 rockets sequentially. Nice for tossing at MAX or Turrets and Soldiers equally.
And the 6 shot indirect fire Grenade launcher. Great for tossing plasma, HE and Shock grendes in relative quick succesion.
My reinforce pack looks liek this:
Pistol, CUD, Cycler, 2 Decimators and approprite ammo.
or I tweek it with 1 decimator and Gren launcher with Plasma and HE grenades(12 ea.)
You just can beat the satisfaction of tossing a decimator into a vahicle and watching the panic start. You get a similar effect from the "Missle Lock" on planes, but with the bug/nerf its just not fun anymore.

How does that work out? I really like the idea of using a thumper but ive heard some people say its nothing but a grief tool.

Basicaly I use it as a support tool or last ditch "slow them down" with plasma grenades.
In the open, I use it on 1-2+ soldiers and just get em witht he green goop. "it burns!" Since it is indirect fire, it's kinda hard to master at first, but I got the hang of it pretty quick. I have used HE to some extent, but It doesn't have the desired effect. Plamsa makes em retreat, an HE doesnt seem to have that "ahh I'm burning " effect I like. It is possible I haven't found the right scenario to use it, but I keep em anyway, and try to hit em, or get real close with slash damage. Kinda like a mini-mortar.
The shock grenades are great for those pesky turrets, and I will occasionally keep 6 in my pack for the assault on a facility. alot of time the back door is guarded with turrets.
I keep the thumper in may back pack for use after the decimator is done. so cycler in slot 2, decimator in slot 4, thumper in pack.
I tried to use the rocket gun and it's direct fire was nice, but I found I got shit loads of grief points when guy's ran in front of me. I get some with the thumper, but I am mastering it. It has been especially useful for those snipers and guys who like to hide behind trees. I toss one in thier vacinity, and they move PDQ.
But it is definatly a support tool, and I hang back a little bit from guys who are moving tactically on the enemy. It even work inside, for towers and facility battles. Those guys who jump back behind the corners and reload/heal/etc. Plasma keeps em moving back, and even finishes off a few :)

How does ammo work when your carrying all that? Find any problems running out mid field?
Also.. i found your ideas on plasma over HE interesting, can you give any rough estimates on the number of plasmas it takes to bring down an agile or reinforced and how much time it takes for the plasma to burn through also?

With reinforced I dont usually have problems. I can carry about 250 rds of standard ammo, i dont usually carry AP unless I'm desperate. Sometimes I have 50 in there for emergencies. i carry 12 plasma and 12 HE. In the big fights, I am either dying or running out of ammo. Dying on the assault...or reloading from eq terms on the defense. Since I have a natural affinity to the decimators, I find myself running back and grabbing one at every lull, so I rarely run out of grenades. But 12 is usually good for 1-2 encounters with squad sized elements. As far as damage, if you let the DoT tick away, it could take 3-5 grenades to kill a agile soldier, and 1-2 more for reinforced. Thsi is by no means exact, but I had been using adv targetting implant and shooting at hurt targets. It makes for much better target selection. As am in a support role, I usually am not concerned with monitoring the kills I get, so alot of this is my best estimate from being hit by the same grenades. But I hang back from the extreme front and pepper the oposition with my indirect fire.

Like i said I swapped to Special Assault as well, and after a day or two of playing it i have 3 different setups
1. Cycler with 200 rounds
Rocklet with 48
2. Cycler with 150 rounds
4 Decimators ( ;) i don't much like running back, i use the secondary mode alot so i fire all 3 off quite quickly especially if they're close to you)
3. Rocket with 36 rounds
3 Decimators
Im tweaking it a bit, i really don't much like the thumper but for my 2 pistol slots i always carry a REK and plasma nade.

yeah, i carry the tr pistol and a CUD in my pistol slots. The TR pistol will just about wreck someones day if you run out of ammo and dont want to relad in a 1 vs 1 fight. I'm very used to doing it from my CS days. quick swap and Blamo!
I have 3-4 set-ups, I just got sniper so I have some tweaks with no thumper now and a sniper rifle, but I ALWAYS... ALWAYSALWAYSALWAYS carry my decimator.

Hmmm... now im torn. I KNOW i want to do cycler with decimators and another special weapon but now i cant choose between rocklet and thumper. Ive heard some good points about the thumper from Lion, but how does it compare to the rocklet?

rocklet has some nice advantages, you will just have to polay with them and see what fitas your style.
Remeber, you can unlearn a cert every 24hours.
I have changed several times.
I used rocklet to start and went to it when i kept hitting people in my way cuz of the direct fire aspect of it. I preffered the indirect fire way of the thunmper.
Don;t forget you can try stuff out in VR training too.
