How about an estimate on how many people will play

for this i think more is better in terms of people even if they all run people over.

SO HOW MANY DO YOU THINK WILL PLAY???

I'm not sure at least a couple thousand. I don't have a resource on hand to guess since the closest game to this one is Tribes or just maybe a couple Half-Life mods but, they're not really a good judge.

in my own opinion i would like more Everquest numbers that would be so sweet that would be one huge battlefield!

Well there are going to be a couple servers that are going to spread out the population. As much as I'd love to see thousand man armies with Tanks, Buggies, Infantry, and Air Vehicles I don't think my system could handle something like that to be of any use in such an epic battle. I do ok though in the current 20 to 40 man base battles.

As others have said, I'd love to see massive battles, with thousands versus thousands....however, you're never gonna get that (plus the lag would be awful). However, I've played DAOC, and battles of 20 versus 20 are exciting enough for me :) And I've already read about reports of battles of hundreds, which would be awesome. :D

Nekota, what's your system?
And would this system be able to handle gigantic battles at pretty high settings?:
Athlon 2400+ XP (2gig)
ATI Radeon 9500 Pro 128 mb
768 mb ddr 2100 ram 266 mhz

Well I'm running a...

P3 950 Mhz
512 MB SDRAM
128 GeForce Ti 4600
1.5 MBs Comcast Cable
Windows 2003 Standard Server

I run on Low Texture Resolution, Low Particle Effects, Low Flora. The graphics are still very good and this way I get very little framerate loss. Alot of the lag I thought I was experiencing ended up being corrected by just lowering my graphic settings which is a god send especially for someone who pilots a vehicle like a Mosquito.

Ahh good, then my system is probably very worthy of playing in large battles with graphics on high. Your cpu is a piece of shit, and your ram is practically the minimum. I don't mean to insult your system, but if it runs ps the way you want it to, congrats.

Uhh... thanks :\ . You don't think I know this? My poor system is getting long in the tooth it's over 2 years old now. I've got a new system spec'ed out... problem is components cost money :D .

EDIT: Ohh for beta be prepared to have your computer turned into a little bitch. The program optimizations are all turned down added with debugging tracking on at the moment. This game sucks down the memory and then asks for seconds. Running at high at the moment isn't recommended since it's not a real accurate gauge of how the gold version is going to perform.

I have a system similar to Nekota's but I am running an AMD :( chip. It works for me at medium settings but big battles tend to bog me down at times. I have tried flying in the VR where things are smoother but in conflict, I am a sitting duck. Need to get my other PC online when I get the spare money.

Oh, and to get the thread back on topic, I think there will be around 10K initial subscribers with more joining as word of mouth spreads. I doubt it will ever reach EQ numbers simply because EQ appeals to a larger group of people. Of course, this is just speculation because I don't have access to SOE's pre-order data.
