platoons / alliances?

these were supposed to be ways to link multiple squads up together... i havent heard a thing about either of them outside of the beta manual / faq's. does anyone know anything about these? i usually lead a squad and would link up with some other friendly ones i know. tnx!

Platoons will be implemented after release.

Not sure on alliances, I know there is an alliance chat now. But it serves no purpose yet
