They were testing the new servers, and I was playing as TR for stress testing , and ppl were griefing left and right, and I was sick of it, so I went out, and made a char named "SmokeJumperPS" and I yelled "LISTEN: IF YOU KEEP GRIEFING I AM GOING TO KICK YOU OFF FOR THE NEXT 72 HOURS" so they would stop, they did, and SmokeJumper did a GM broadcast saying "Whoever stole my name, you are out of here." and send me a /tell saying "get rid of the name. NOW." so I did, and it was scary, and I almost got kicked off of beta, sooo... the moral is, don't steal devs names. :)

That's your bad. You shouldn't go around stealing names. Just deal with peoples bickering. I'm sure it isn't half as bad as the bickering that roared out of Tribes 2.

Of course, it has been made uber clear that impersonating a dev will get you banned.

I doubt that story is true *but* let's say it is-(considering the fact that the devs were on each of the servers before they opened them)

I'd be really fucking pissed if I was a smoke jumper, and some computer programmer took what I did for a living to make him a cool little name then told me I couldn't have it, if I had registered first. I don't see where it says you can't name yourself Smokejumper or anything.

Maybe in that scenerio, but what dhark did i would of the same thing considering he was actully trying to act like him and scare others ( nice idea though dhark )

With my own eyes on Emerald server... maybe last Thursday... I saw "SmokeJumperPS". I looked at him in the sanctuary for a minute...waved at him...then immediately thought to myself, "Imposter".

Dev and GM names are more than likley reserved from the start, if you want to be SmokeJumper or Stryker you are out of luck.

What you did was incredibly stupid. Taking a name like that is asking for trouble. The fact that you haven't been banned is unbelievable. You are one lucky tester. My advice to you is to not do anything remotely like that again. And if you do, Don't bring it here looking for attention. Because frankly, No one care's about those antics.

I would think the only thing that saved him is that he used the name to do something good. If he had used it for Evil i think he would have been banned.

instead of reacting in a typical GEEK way he should have told you to change your name and proceeded to fix the bug like a real professional software developer does for sony.:no:

He was lieing, he did not do what he said, but at any rate, I too will proably get weapons lock from killing Dharkbayne when ever I see him as well.

SJ would allready have his account name so u couldnt take it exactly, so i see no reason u should be kicked for takeing a name similer to a devs name. In the beta yea mabey he can kick u but iam sure theres nothgin on the user agreement for the final game that says " u cant use a name similer to one of the devs". so they cant kick u for doing that.
