View Full Version : LotR: 2 towers
Just got back from it.
As you would expect from LotR only one word come to mind.
WoW!
It was great. Some people didn't like it as much as the 1st but that's simply because it's the in between movie, it starts off from the first movie and leads up to the final movie next year so it's kinda weird as a stand alone flick.
The battle scenes are amazing. I was impressed that they managed to split the story into 3 parts (Merry and Pipin, Frodo and Sam, and the rest) without making it complicated or long(well longer;)). Gollum was amazing in it, won't say anymore as to not spoil anything for others. It had a lot more laughs than the 1st while not making it a cheap comedy flick. They developed a lot on the growing friendship between the fellowship which was great, specially Gimli and Legolas.(again won't say anymore as to not spoil it)
All in all a must see.
I give it :thumbsup::thumbsup:

I saw it too,
Like it, loved it, better then the first part of the story, BUT:
Faramir.. ATF was that whole BS anyway?
The Ents.. man they rocked BUT, what was with that change int he story?
The ending.. why there? Two towers doesnt end there.. WTF?
Too much Liv Tyler crap, unneeded BS. Should have dropped all of that.

Amazing. I just got back from it too.
Here are my thoughts:
- Should have been more scenes and lines for Gandalf and Saruman.
- Faramir was an odd character, his presence in the movie didn't seem to have as much of an impact as I expected.
- Didn't explain or show where Bilbo went when the elves left Rivendale.
I'll stop now if that last line spoiled a little of the movie for some people.
All in all, great movie, favorite character was Gimli. The Two Towers is just as good, if not, better than the first.
Well worth the money to go see it.
Yeah apprently they changed some stuff from the book a bit. I dunno never read them but i think it wasn't a disgrace to the books. The director, Peter has worked hard to make a movie worthy of them.
I agree an explanation about Bilbo would be good, perhaps in the 3rd movie. And it didn't end where the 2nd book ended because it's not the book it's the movie. They have to end the movie in a somewhat movie ending. :)

I just got back from the movie, and i ahve to say I'm ixed. Theres alot of stuff in there thats been changed and just left out all together. Hmmm and what was that crap with Liv Tyler? Most of that stuff never even happend in the three books themselves, you had to go read about it in the appendix. The specail effects were good for the most part except for the Ents. (Cheesy ass)I'm a huge fan of the books and I think MY biggest probelm was that I read two towers Like a hundred times before i saw this movie. So it kinda messed it up alittle. But all in all I think it was good.
one more question. What happend to "NARSIL" a.k.a "Anduril". Aragorn didn't have it reforged by the elfe's in the first one, And the elfe's didn't bring it to him in Helm's deep? I think that sword is a Huge item in this story plus it lends to Aragorns personality.

Oh one more question did you guy's here that some company is going to make a Massively multiplayer game out of lord of the rings AND MARVEL comics. I think the massively multi player game for LOTR would be really cool, except the whole fanatasy mmorpg is kinda dryed up. I think they should have a totaly new combat system, think Dynasty warriors except more skill involved. LOTR is my most cherished book series ever and if they screw the game up then I'd be really, really hurt to see my fav story crapped on, but if they made the game cool. I'd jump at the chance to by a gondorain night and fight beside Aragorn and legolas at the seige of gondor.

NOOOO, whatever they do they cant make a LORT MMORPG they already have several computer and console games out, and i think they ruin the wonder and amazement that you get from reading the books. Even the movies(good as they are) cannot compare to the books in their greatness, so much interesing, and some times boring backstory is lost when a screenplay is written.

Not much, that's why it sucks.
Capitalism brought us many great things like PS and computers and bla bla bla but think how much better the world would be if instead of making something because it's profitable you made it because you like helping and/or amusing others. No money just cooperation and teamwork, much like the smurfs. :D

You have NO liberty to compare the books to the movies if you did not read them. I cannot compare The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged since I have not read the latter, can I? Of course not. Go ahead and say the movies are awesome (cuz they are), but try to refrain from saying the changes were justified if you don't even know what originally happened in the books.
Hope I'm not asking for too much. :p
I never said they were justified, i said "i don't think they were a disgrace to the books". Disgrace is a pretty strong word and i really doubt the movies are so bad that they would actually be a disgrace to the books. That's what i meant. :)

I think that trying to compare the book and the movie is pretty much immpossible. The book has SOOOOOOOO much detail that it's almost a different story all together.consider this. Merry and pippin found there "blades of westerness" when they were lost in tha "barrow downs" .Without the blade of westerness how is merry going to stab You know who in the back of the knee thus setting him up to be killed? in the movie they'll pull it off, but in the book it was a huge poitn that merry had found that blade because it was one of the only baldes that could harm a You know what.

HE was a lothlorian Elf, you can find him on the first movie. I havent read the Two Towers in a while, but if my memory serves me right, theat didn't happen... Th elves did bring Aragorn his sword, reforged.. but that is about it.

No,no,no Aragorn had Narsil reforged in rivendell. Of course that wasn't in the first movie eigther. Remember in the book when gandalf, aragorn, legolas, and gimli were about to enter thoedens hall the gaurd tried to take aragorn's sword and almost got his head chopped off. LOL
