If this has been posted before, sorry :)

Anyway, i do hope they add this feature to the game any wich way they can, i really do think it would add to the game and would add atmoshphere to the game. Can you imagine been in a galaxy dropship and actually talking to the other squad members while on your way to the LZ? Imagine then when you see the pilot dead and the ship about to crash into the ground, imagine what that would sound like, you dont get the same atmoshphere when simply typing text on the screen :)

Anyway, i'm new as you might of already gathered, please no flames, i'm sensitive :)

theres a thread on this at the top of page 2, almost exact same name too...

they arnt certain about putting it in, they are probably just leave it to 3rd party programs, which they havnt said they object to

IF they do leave it to 3rd party programs then it wouldnt be the same. Not everyone would be in the same channel, infact you'd probably only find 10 or so people per voice channel if it was left to 3rd party proggies!

Of course 3rd party programs are great for clan games, but besides that it really doesnt work due to reasons i stated above

for clan games it does work, for non-clan it doesnt.. but I;m affected by the later currently, and i dont really mind heh =p

would be nice if they added a system so people could connect player to player(no server envolvement), but allow people to query the server for 'channels' avalible or to add their channel to the 'master list'... but.. I'd rather have a really really nice game instead of a really nice game w/voice comm

That is an actual dev response of their plans, should answer all your questions :)

K, last post :)

I would think that using voice comms would add to an already class game [i cant wait! :)]

It would add to the fact that you are playing with REAL people and using voice comms would simply re-inforce it

I REALLY, REALLY hope they include voicecomm similiar to Half-life.

it really does suck that there are no ingame voice comms, but im sure that it won't matter after a short while.

heh, dont forget only 1/2 the player base or so will use the real voice chatting...

it's too bandwidth intensive to be used in combat, 56k'ers wont really be able to use it well WHILE fighting =p

And everyone talking over each other......... Voice comm is usless without discipline and with too many people on.

You could limit voice comms to say people in the vacinity...?

Or people in your squad...

Or set up a Roger Wilco server and give guys in your group the IP. (assuming we can alt-tab)

It is great that there is no built in voice com in this game. It means that the Devs are focusing on game play, and stability instead of crap that we don't need.

Why reinvent the wheel? Their are plenty of 3rd party programs out there that can allow you to talk to each other. How many of you have played Tribes 2? They really tried to out do themselves when they made Tribes 2. They collected all the tools that a clan used like web sites, voice com, and forums. The forums got shut down, the browser was never up, and the voice com sounded like talking to the robot from Lost in Space.

This is the right way to go and I aplaud them for not wasting time on something we don't need in the game.
