View Full Version : Major problem with flying

I've tried practicing flying with the mosquito and the reaver and failed miserably every time I try. I seriously need to know what I'm doing wrong.
First off, I'm using the mouse and keyboard, don't have a joystick.
When I press "e" to elevate the vehicle it just rises up and pitches its nose down and spins in the air. It won't let me go forward when I press "w". To make a long story short, I basically can't get the vehicle to do anything besides elevate or go down.
Help me, I'm desperate. :p

...first time I heard someone have this much of a problem.
Have you checked your controls to be sure they are properly binded? Are you moving your mouse at all, cause once you move your mouse a dircection, it will continue to spin that way till you turn the other way to stop the turning. Best I got that can help.

Trust me, unless you are having some unexplainable problem like War, flying is a breeze. In fact I rarely see people die from flying horribly, just the occaisional finding a tree or just bumping something. You here stories of how hard it can be, but I see people easily strafing baddies, flying under bridges, flying like 2 feet from ground. For me, it was a breeze, I easily understand the flying physics of the game, but you can expect a few hours of practice and you should have no problem flying. Soon you could join the skies with me and take everything down. :D

Eh... try using the throttle controls (1-9 and 0). That might help.

Moving the mouse causes constant turning. It sounds like you are using the mouse. You are probably moving forward when pressing dubya, I suggest checking your speed to confirm it. But you might not notice if you are going in a circle.
You seem to have some mouse problem. When you use 'E' to gain height, the craft should not dive it's nose unless you move the mouse. Pressing 'W' then accelerates you forward.
On a side note, do you happen to have a joystick plugged into the comp? An uncalibrated joystick can cause something like you describe, even when you aren't actually using it. If so, pull it outta the machine and try again.
Flying in this game is great. Last night, i was hoverin over a base in a reaver, when suddenly gettin a missile lock warning. I dive straight down into the base, afterburner on, recover 2 feet from the ground, zip around the corner at mach 5 and leave base through the gate, between 2 surprised tanks :D
