View Full Version : Wow, they took the beta feedback and used it maliciously.

Hundreds of pages of feedback:
This game is too boring, I won't buy it, I won't stick with it after a month, add some gameplay!
Their response:
Tone xp down to practically single digits... they see their customers as morons who will chase that BR carrot for 6 months.
The part that disgusts me is how much effort and though people on the beta boards invested in constructive, real solutions to making this game a game... and how they've basically just turned that on it's head and used us as the ultimate marketting litmus.
They learned we get bored in a month, so they nerf the xp to take a helluva lot longer. Way to improve your game SOE.
I didn't buy it BTW, I just checked back in hope against hope for news of positive changes and instead see that sickening xp news.

Way not to read any of the other xp posts. Good job, moron. BEP/XP/whatevertheparticulargamecallsit is often raised to higher lvls during betas to allow players to get to high ranks faster, often to test balance of high level players vs lower lvl ones. It was preplaned. Crawl back in your hole and stop bothering the nice people.

if I have to explain how BR and xp are useless in this game anyway, and yet the only thing to pursue... no, nevermind, if you don't get it you don't get it.
if you are a fan of the game no matter what and it can do no wrong by you, congratulations, go play it, this is a discussion forum I believe and I'm discussing something. If anyone wants more elaboration on my points for open discussion's sake I'll be happy to oblige, but it would be a waste of time to elaborate for someone who is not interested in discussion. Like I said, go play the game if that's your pleasure.

All the good ideas suggested by beta testers on how to improve the game were looked at. They don't always say so, but they do watch what people say carefully. PS may have it's problems at the start, but I will stay with it because the devs actually listen to people. They realize that how their fans want the game is how they should make it. I believe/hope eventually it'll be hard to find much wrong with PS.

Haha, they sure fooled me.
Just before end of beta they did a XP nerf.. and got massive criticism for it.. and then it looked like they had seen the light and implemented good xp gains again..
And many people ordered the game.. and all was well.
Then the game has been out for a few days, and many many people have purchased it based on their expectations of a fun non-threadmill FPS..
And now they super-NERF the XP..
Well, I was about to go to the store on Friday and pick up a copy of PlanetSide when it was released here in Norway (5-23).. but I guess i'll rather spend the money on something else....
Sony Decided that instead of people play the game for 1 month, gain BR20 and play for 1-2 more months and go tired... (or go tired after 1 month) they want to 'milk' the RPG/XP-Threadmill crowd for 12.95$ for 3-6months time, (the time it will take to reach BR20.. ) and by then they have "PlanetSide Ruins of Kunark" expansion which lets you get to BR25 and get special MAX units only for BR20's, hidden continents and new Outfit only bases... all for 29.95$ + s&h..
This is to much!..
Thanks SOE, you ruined a OK game..
Good thing you can still play other games.. and the new Return to castle wolfenstein add-on looks great (Where you gain XP through a -campaign- xx missions Multiplayer Online Free)

I have no clue why you guys are complaining, I got to BR3 in about 10 minutes in a squad, with doing VT. I think the exp system is fine.
