Will donate $20 to PSU for trial key

Okay, okay. I know it's hardly a charitable donation if I'm asking for something in return. But then again, it IS a donation on the part of the person who is willing to part with their trial key.

Anyway guys, I'd be really happy if one of you could find it in their heart to help me out.

I feel a little bad that my first posts are centered around asking for something rather than contributing to the community in a constructive manner, however my need is acute.

Yeah, well, it seems to be the only way I can get to play it NOW as opposed to in at least a week given the Australian release schedule.

Anyway, apparently the guys running this site could use the cash.

Apparently not. I was in beta, so I have all the client files on my PC already. People in beta have successfully gone to retail by simply entering the CD key when prompted without re-installing. Many of them claim to still have their Planetside box in shrink-wrap.

Now unless the procedure for using the trial key is different, I'm assuming I can do the same thing with it.

If someone reads the little card the key is printed on and it seems you need to do something else with it other than use it like a standard CD key, please let me know.

I know I will still have to buy the retail version. That's not an issue for me. In my original post (linked to above) I've even offered to give whoever gives me their buddy key my buddy key in return when I get one.

But one of my EQ pals is helping me out. His gonna go and buy PlanetSide for me and e-mail me the cd key then ship it over. I am getting the cd key later on tonight. Hopefully it works :)

Aww... man I just read your other post.... theres different ways of shipment... its NOT going to take longer than buying it at the stores unless its coming tommorow... just use 1 day oversees shipment its like $15

Unfortunately, experience suggests otherwise. Even the old FedEx "absolutely, positively, guaranteed overnight" style delivery still seems to take about a week to get here.

I once paid about $70 to get some plane tickets (which are much cheaper here for some reason) to a friend in England overnight. They arrived about three days after the flight...

Anyway, a trial key will solve my pressing need, and PSU can use the cash regardless. It's a win-win situation really.

UPS has daily flights to Australia. So if your in metro area you can get your pkg in generally 2 days (they need time for customs clearing).


Uh yes I work for UPS but I cancelled my pre-order with GameStop because Sony claimed we would have it instores here on the 22nd. Bad decision :/

You don't need the CD to start it. If you have beta installed already, all you need is the key.

Here I am getting all desperate-like wondering how I'm going to geek out this weekend, selling my pride and offering bribes for seven day keys (which hasn't come through yet, unfortunately), and NOW they send through my SWG beta acceptance.

On the upside, I guess, is the fact that I've only got about 500Mb worth of bandwidth left this month, so downloading the SWG client is prolly out of the question.

Looks like the $20 investment may come in handy after all.

I think the idea of maybe donating your 7 day keys to PSU so that they can give them away to people willing to donate is pretty cool, god knows any independant sites desperately need funding.

Okay, it looks like the other guy hasn't been able to come through for me (or at least not yet). He may well be asleep given the time in your part of the world right now, but I've still got at least eight hours of gaming goodness ahead of me tonight if I can only get a key.

As Hamma could probably confirm for you by now, I've donated the promised $20 already.

So, does anyone else have a buddy key they'd like to give me?

This is an interesting thread. If there are other beta testers who want to donate to PSU for a 7 day key for whatever reason, just pm me. I've got no use for mine. Just make sure you realize that you must already have the game installed from beta (or if you can get a friend's cds but he's given his key away or whatever).
