Worth it?

Me and a friend have been waiting for Planetside for like a year and a half and he got it today. he said it was the worst game hes ever played. Now I feel horrible because Ive been waiting for this game so long. MMO games have never been his thing though... So is this game a good game or a major waste of hype...

It was great in beta, but they screwed it up at launch. I hope they fix it :\

I liked it in beta, and I like it in retail. The only thing to really change was XP, and I find it still comes pretty fast. 2 BR5 characters, and several BR3 characters so far. Now if only I could stick to just one character...

They just liked that In Beta, you could pretty much bet BR20 in a week. :P

exactly, I think the Xp change is better becacsue it will allow to really 'play' their character and be rewarded for good fighting, not having n00bs at BR20 running around with no skills (as in shooting skill, not posints).

No, thats not what they screwed up. I don't mind that you advance slower, but they fubar'ed the dynamics of the game. No one defends now. Bases empty out the instant a cap is completed and another empire rolls in soon after and caps it with no resistance. And then they empty out the base after the cap, and another empire... :rolleyes:

You get a shitload of exp for capping bases and next to none for defending them. THAT is the problem.

I'd still defend, but defending a base against a hoard of enemies who would like nothing more than to stand around this base doing nothing for 15 minutes and get free exp is impossible.

I'd actualy say you could advance just as fast or faster than beta, since base caps give so much exp and bases change hands so often.
