How many patches are there to release? I've done 1, and am halfway through 2nd. How big are they? If you cancel in middle, do they save?

Not sure how many.
You can cancel in the middle of the download, and it will save. if you cancel in the middle of a file, that file will need to be downloaded again from the begining.

Usually fairly small I'd assume..

Anything except new art should take 5-10 minutes tops on a 56k connection.

That of course, depends heavily on server traffic..if 50,000 other people are clogging the lines with their patches, it is going to be slower.
