Hey, I just found a celeron 500Mhz chip sitting in a box from when I moved last year that I don't have a board for. What do I need to know about a motherboard to know if it'll work (besides where the description says like Celeron 366-700MHz)?? Do I need to know anything about the chip itself or are all Celerons the same??

I can get out the chip and see what I can tell from it if anyone needs to know anything about it to help me.

And has anyone else ever looked down on Celerons because it sounds so much like celery??

Thanks guys.

Actually, after the redid the early celerons (the one's with no cache), the celeron began to outperform the pII on a price/speed ratio by a wide margin. Hate the celeron if you want, but you should hate the p2 and 3s also. :)

i know but.... the first ones were good cuz u could Oc'd the hell out of em i just warning people now cuz the Non-Computerliterate people think wow 2 gigaghertz at a LOW LOW price while a 1.8ghz celeron (or something around there) got beat by a 800mhz Duron so.... :) good luck
