Ok, I've been readin these boards and the PS website for info on this game. About a month ago i thought it was really cool, but then posts emerged about it not being worth the monthly fee.

My dreams are:
1. Huge battles between hundreds of people
2. Loads of replayability - Because of certs etc...
3. A good disciplined outfit base eg. Not a million crappy outfits that have 5 players max

I was very stupid in the fact that I've bought the game and I do not have a decent PC yet (So I'm gonna have to download every patch!) but should I subscribe or not?

I think you will be very happy if you subscribe.

Its unfortunate that only the negative people post on the forums usually. (Mainly the OF)

Subscribe and decide for yourself. You have a month to decide :D

1) oh yeah, huge battles do happen quite often

2) replayability... well, that might be the biggest issue. I can't say this game has great replayability right now. However, I'm sure Sony will be adding more to the game down the line

3) I haven't gotten into an outfit yet, but from what I have heard and seen there are lots of good ones out there. Some outfits formed during beta so when the final game came out, they were right there ready to go.

Lots of people complain, but there are many more of us who are playing all the time and having lots of fun.

I have been vocal about the things I don't like about the game, but I play just about every day. Right now, Planetside comes the closest to providing the experience that I'm looking for in a online game. If you go into it expecting perfection or even the best game ever, you will probably be disappointed. If you go into it with the understanding that you will get out about 15% more than you put in, and are willing to make the effort to find a good group of people to play with, you will not be disappointed.

As it stands, the game has very little replay value though I won't argue that it is fun. I don't see this game lasting very long unless they make some additions and adjustments.
Just isn't much to do because the game is very linear and that's what needs to be changed. It's just kill and take over bases. Kill differently and take over bases.

This is bound to happen like all MMORPGs so Planetside needs to be given some time.

That doesn't bother me at all. However, what DOES bother me is that the game requires an Ultrasparc to run at good frames per second. I haven't been able to find one person that can play it on high at a playable framerate.

The game is definitely worth it IMO. However, I've put PS on the backburner until the new content patch comes out and a few of the more annoying bugs get squashed.

I don't worry about if the game will be fun in the future... I'm having a blast now. I find there is tons of replayability, i change my certs around all the time and find new and interesting aspect to my character.

If it stops being fun... i won't subscribe. Just like when I played AC, EQ, DAOC, SB, AO... after i got bored with them, I just moved on to a new game.

THIS IS NOT A LIFELONG OBLIGATION! You are not making a long term commitment to this game, it's only a monthly fee... which you can cancel at anytime.

When i hear "I'm not buying the game because I don't know if I will be able to enjoy it for the next 3 years." I just have to laugh.

Enjoy it now... because good ole GW Bush may just get us all blown to hell tomorrow anyway.

When I meant "future," it meant about 5-6 months from now...not 3 years.

If I paid $50 for a game, I best be able to still find it fun in about 5 months.

I've been playing since beta, and I find there to be HUGE amounts of replayability. My heart still pounds whenever I'm taking on a new base. I actually go through withdrawl if I don't play every day or two.

Cool, thanks people. This is the first positive post I've read in a while. What is the minimum period of subscription time you can buy? I mean, do you have to have a minimum of 3 months or something? Also, do SOE except Solo cards (Do they have them in the US?)

1st month free.

You can pay 1 month at a time for $13. 2 months for $12 a month. Or $11 for month for 3 months.

I'm sure if they accept those cards yet but they did mention that it was going to be put in soon.

should be a month, 3month, or 1year subscription options, with pricing going down for longterm commitments.

btw, if you didnt play beta i would suggest buying it sooner rather than later. Outfits are still in infancy stage. I.E. join us we shoot and move together in large #'s providing safety and overwhelming force to win. Only very few outfits have become killing machines, like the TR max+stealth engineer/medic outfit that the folks been complaining about on main board. Its not only the "tactic of using pounder/lockdown maxs", its their extensive roleplay, everyone doing a specific job and perfecting it. Currently, you join an outfit, the outfit designates squads generally on first come first serve basis. This will evolve into squads within outfits providing specific roles and the members of outfits playing specific roles and only that role. Like for instance an outfit splitting platoon into base assault squad(3AImax, 1avmax, 2special assault, 2heavy assault, 2roleplay(eng/med/hacker), vehicle squad (tanks/transport/gunners/ams), support (snipers/reaver/skeeters/aa). Next stage after roleplay is coordination, where you specifically coordinate and follow to a dot battle plan and moving together.

In games like everquest, guilds/outfits became highly organized by necessity, due to extreme nature of the Player versus Enemy boss encounters, that required extreme roleplay/coordination of 40-60 players. Since organization isnt required, you wont see it become necessary in PS really until it becomes common amongst outfits, and like natural selection, gotta adapt or face consistent failure and loss of members. Planetside is about 4-8months away from this stage where outfits will be a huge force, not by how many they bring, but how coordinated they are. Such that you wont forget getting your asswooped by such outfits over and over. Currently its mainly "my outfit has 463members and we steamroll everything har har we r3le!"

Don't subscribe until you get a computer that can run it decently. Your free month runs out whether your are able to play or not.

Navaron...there's no way your check was from the tax cut that was signed a couple of days ago. I just got my regular refund...if I qualify for a further refund, it has been stated in many places that these won't be appearing for a couple months.
