I would consider myself a slight movie buff, and i would just like to start up a thread for people, to let us tell people what our favorite movies are, and any suggestions for other good movies that we might want to see (especially not well known movies)
ok, i'm going to start it off
Favorite movie: Gatica
This is a great movie for many reasons. It has good acting, good dirrecting, is very emotional (it gave me a few "alergy problems") and is just very good philosophical movie. I just love it.
Good movies that people don't know about: Momento
DAMN COOL
Donnie Darko: Very cool and trippy, also very cool philosophically
Fight Club: a lot of you prolly know about this one, but most of my friends don't, so i thought that i'd throw it out there.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: See this while under the influence of something for extra trippyness and funnytude

Aack! Deja vu. I just (not two minutes ago) did this in another forum. Let me hunt down my response there.
Edit: Here it is
-Mystery Science Theatre 3000 ("Put the men's room in the tower, what was I thinking?")
-Monty Python and the Holy Grail ("Strange women lying in ponds, distributing swords is no basis for a system of government...")
-Monty Python- The Meaning of Life ("It's Mr. Grim, something about reaping...we don't want any.")
-The Matrix ("Please remove any spare change...")
-The Ref ("You'll be someone's patient if you don't sit down.")
Mind job/Suspense movies :
Matrix (duh! but of course most of us have already had that mind job many times so it's lost it's philosphical appeal a bit)
Gatica and Equilibirum(both are very similiar, equilibrium is more action though)
Ghost in the shell
Macross movies
Neon genesis evangelion series (specially end episodes, they are more fucked up than the architect's speech in Reloaded  )
The Recruit (loved this movie)
Phone booth
Panic room
Bourne identity
Antitrust (this movie is a MUST for any PC fan :D)
Action flicks :
The transporter (VERY cool movie :))
The rock
Gone in 60 seconds
Resident evil (gotta love it! :D)
Others:
Le pacte des loups
Men with brooms
Rush hour (come on who doesn't love "can you understand the words coming out of my mouth?" :D)
Nearly any Jet li movie (that dude rocks, Romeo must die was very good with the lucious and sadly departed Aaliyah :()
A guy thing
And well i've got a whole slew of great movies but i gotta get back to PS sooner or later so another time perhaps. :D

Neon Genesis Evangelion is a mind job. I haven't got much of it yet. I've only been able to get up to episode ten. I'm mostly in the humor episodes now (thermal expansion  ), but I plan to get farther as soon as possible.
Yeah Asuka is hilarious. :)
The end episodes are really weird, trust me. :)

These are hilarious. Star Wars ep 1-2, MGS 1-2, Akira, and Mononoke ones, too. Takes a lot to restrain myself from reading ahead to episodes I haven't seen.

-Schindler's List ("He who saves a life saves the world entire.")
*Very graphic. As in VERY, very graphic.

-Black Hawk Down ("Blackburn!!!")
-Beavis and Butthead Do America ("Is this a God dam? Heh, heh.")
-Dirty Harry ("So, let me ask you a question...")
-Gattaca ("But I am not Jerome Morrow.")
*Yes. This movie owns.
-Boondock Saints ("You and you'rre f**kin rope!")

wow, i thought that equilibrium was just a balls out action flick, at least it looked like that in the store, but now i'll have to give it a try.
Nah it's pretty much an action version of Gattica.

i don't genereally like war movies.
I liked the thin red line, and i liked the end of black hawk down
I'm more into the deep and phillisophical movies, like finght club, matrix, and gatica.

Apocaleps Now doesn't mainly focus on war. It focuses on this one renagade officer who starts his own army of natives from Vietnam who worship him as a god. Not much to do with war, just a really cool movie.

hmmmm, strange, and bizzar
and everyone should deffinately get some 7 years in tibett in there too, that's a really good drama, gives me many allergy problems (which, by the way, if you didn't get it, is my excuse for crying during emotional movies, i say it to feal more manly. It's either that, or i have an eyelash in my eye)

I suggest you guys look at the Star Wars ones.
Qui-Gon: I consider myself an excellent judge of character. And Anakin is not only a delightful child, he's also going to be the nicest li'l Jedi ever! And he'll bring balance to the Force!
Mace Windu: Did it ever occur to you that since the Jedi outnumber the Sith 10,000 to 2, that "balance" is going to require a whole lot of dead Jedi?
I always wondered about that. :D

Dooku: Ah, so you have arrived for the final battle. Since we've been ripping off video games for the past two hours, I believe this is where I give my Squaresoft-esque "I Luv Nihilism" speech.
Obi-Wan: Don't underestimate him, Anakin! At this rate he'll probably transform into an evil angel or something when you beat him.
Anakin: How about us two-handed heretics of the sword go at it like wild men! We'll make the sky rain blood, eh, you old geezer!
Dooku: Foolish boy, don't you see? Lucas is an old fart these days, which means that now his most powerful characters are the oldest ones! Which is why I rock even though I look like a spokesman for Depends.
Yoda: Ah, but ten times older than you am I.
Dooku: Rats, foiled by math again.

Aliens
The Killer (Not just an action film, nice story too)
The Matrix (And reloaded)
Dog Soldiers (Well I thought it was good)
Predator (Films average, but the Predator is the coolest creation ever, just play Aliens Vs Predator 2!)

I thought reloaded was brilliant. Yeah the story sucked, but the action ..... <speechless>.....
And when Morpheus killed the Twins... So cool (Even though they were the best characters!)
And who could not love the Keymaker!?
Reloaded only "suck" to some people because they expected a movie just as good as the Matrix, the Matrix was something never done before, it was awesome because no one expected it, the magic is sadly lost now and we most likely won't get it back. Also one key thing people forget is it's an intermission movie. It's sole purpose is to tie Matrix and Revolutions together (well that and make money ;)) once Revolutions comes out and they see all the stories interconnected i'm sure they will change their mind.
I myself can't wait to see how Trinity and her brother play together in Revolutions and i can't wait to see Seraph kick ass. :D

I just thought of another one,
It's a bit trippy, and screwed up, because it's german, but it's really cool.
It's called run lola run, and it's about some screwed up german's view on the time space continuem. REALLY WEIRD, BUT REALLY COOL.

Brotherhood of the Wolf was good. That is, until the fight scene with the gay bone sword/whip.
Nobody has mentioned "The Warriors"
If you want to see a good gang war kind ish movie watch it.
