View Full Version : Nice work by AMS driver in Faro today

I logged out behind enemy lines last night -- logged in and raised some hell. Eventually hacked an AMS in the courtyard, but the bastard driver parked it head-on against a wall so a no-AMS-cert-hacker-loser like me couldn't deploy it!

Seems like a good idea -- would also keep noobs from undeploying it while looking for the terminal. Harder to do in the wild for sure, but seems like you could find a tree or something...

Not a bad idea at all.

Anything to keep friendly AMS drivers from pulling out their hair. I feel for you guys :)

I hate it when some idiot un-deploys the AMS. I wish you could lock the deployment.

It used to happen so much, not as bad now in my experience.

not as bad now, but it still happens.

I was attacking a tower a few days ago, and set up an ams just out of their view,
It was going well, but just after I left the cloak shield after respawning, I saw a rever fly overhead. He didnt see the bubble on his pass and kept on going, then just before he was out of range, someone undeploied my ams, the reaver caught it, spun around and killed it.

Argh......

We do need to be able to lock it

How did he get it deployed in the first place parking it like this, am i missing something?

I dont think it was deploied there, jsut parked there (or at least how I read it) perhaps you can deply from inside? I dont know?

If you drive it into a wall, how the heck do you deploy it?

Hmm what whould be the point of just parking an ams somewhere and not deploying it? I've been an ams driver a bit and to the best of my knowledge there is no way to deploy the AMS from the cockpit, ditto on the ANT. In fact now that i think about this, it whould be a great way to fix the issue of people undeploying locked AMS, if they cant get in the cockpit, they cant undeploy, simple as that.

Maybe he was able to deploy it from the other side of the wall.;)

Was it deployed when you hacked it Bob?

Drat, there goes a good strategy out the window.

Im pretty suer you can have the ams deployed while still in the cockpit. I had that done for me when my AMS started getting reaver raped. I jumped into the thing, yelled at my friend to undeploy and drove it off. Stupid reaver hit a tree....very funny.

If he drifted very close to a crouched friendly who was against a wall, the friendly could deploy just before being hit. Motion would probally carry the ams to the wall. Of course...youd either kill or trap the friendly player...I know ive been cuaght underneath an ams before.

I admit, I am the one undeploying everyone's AMSs. Yeah, I had a feild day just deploying and undeploying this guy's AMS trying to get to the equiment screen, I just wanted my sweeper... The guy got insanely mad, though, and I had to run before he started chasing me.

But dont you need to be perfectly still for the little deployment circle to pop up? If not this whould be a worthwhile strategy, i know many a person who whould give their life to ensure the teams AMS couldnt be dinked with.

You know, I didn't think of that...I certainly couldn't deploy the damn thing, but whoever parked it there must have someone...hmm

I'm AMS cert and if the AMS is locked, it cannot be undeployed by your own team. Problems is that when you die, the thing goes to empire. Then it's only a matter of time before some idiot runs around to the wrong end, undeploys and compromises it.

Happened to me just last night and I had to keep remembering to lock it with every respawn. Should be really easy to fix for the devs. Keep the damn AMS locked after the owner respawns.. or some kind of "Undeploy AMS - Are you Sure?" message.

Would be cool if there was a "This AMS was provided by XXX" msg when you use it. Not many people cert in AMS and that would work to encourage it.

I want like 5pts for every spawn at my ams, right now it is great for the field, but with getting NO pts for ts use, esp when it has no weapons, is odd.

:stupid:

I'd make it 1pt per spawn though, then every 5 mins the AMS stays alive the pts per spawn goes up so that if you hide your AMS and/or defend it well enough you can eventually get 5 pts per spawn or something. I think that would be awesome anyway. :)

I really really really wish they gave BEPs for support roles , Like 1 BEP per 5 pts healed or something. Would be cool for us support guys instead of just leaching BEPs of our squadmembers.

yep. support needs direct pts for their work

There's much bigger fish they need to fry in the exp system before they start giving ams drivers points, what i whould like to see is the exp scale erqualed out so a support guy supporting a squad makes as good an exp as one diphead soloing in a reaver. Most likely not gonna happen though, I'd do ams work just for the satisfaction of helping my team and being able to respawn quickly near the battlefield but i'm that kinda guy.
