New ideas for Planetside gameplay improvement.

The state of the gameplay in Planetside is only holding players happy for 1-2 weeks, a month if lucky. Radical changes are needed to ensure that the players are kept motivated to play Planetside over a longer period of time.

I�ve come up on some ideas for how this can be improved. The lattice system should be removed, in change of supply convoys that needs protection and power, NTU and other needed lines that needs to be captured and held if a base hack are to be accomplished.

For this idea to work, ANTs should either be removed or have its capacity reduced by 75-80%. This will increase the importance and encourage players to utilize the convoys potential.

Supply Convoys
These convoys of trucks and armored vehicles are doing runs in timed intervals where they start at one Warpgate and then drives trough theCheckpoints
For a convoy to drive off to a new base, the route to the destination needs to be controlled by the empire who got the convoy. This is done by using small checkpoints with one or two small bunkers and a larger bunker with a small cc.

Supply Lines.
These will replace the lattice system. Suplly lines are pipes containing power, NTU and other needed material to run a fully operational base. At every 250m there are pumps with control panels that needs to be hacked and controlled by the attacking empire for the supply line to be whole and ready for the base cap. A complete supply line is required for a base hack to be started. At some points, there should be a very small base where the pipes are routed forward to bases in different directions,
continent, filling up bases with NTU�s and then drive to the next base. Friendly vehicles could be autorepaired while in the same SOI as the convoy. Supply Convoys consists of 2 Tanks, 2 Skyguards and 3 Large ANT�s ( needs new models ) and 2 Harassers. These vehicles will follow in scripted sequenses and being driven/gunned by the AI. Reasonable aiming skills of course. If the convoy had to pass through enemy controlled territory, a presence of players would be recommended to guard the important convoy.

Supply Bases
Supply bases are rare bases on a continent. They are roughly � the size of a AMP Station and are vital for the base caps on a continent. The amount of supply bases should not be less then two or more than 3 on a single continent. These small bases will have walls and two Phalanx turrets for defence. The main building itself should be in the middle.

No bases should have more than two supply lines linked to it. By doing this, you can create frontlines and thus creating more action in one single place.



Give me some feedback on these ideas.. and lets keep it mature, can we?

Mobile Repair Vehicle

This replaces one harasser, and looks similar to a truck/MFB(from the Mechwarrior series). Players drive up to it and press G to dock with the vehicle. A ramp comes out as their vehicle matches the MRV's speed and then their vehicle drives itself onto the MRV as two panels previously laying on the bed of the MRV fold out and then snap together when the vehicle is secured in the bed. The ramp lifts up and special nanite dispensers located inside the panels begin to repair the vehicle. When the repair process is complete, the ramp drops, vehicle is undocked, and the panels fold back into place.

I'd show you my crappy attempt at drawing the MRV in paint, but Geocities feels that it needs to make my site temporarily unavailable.

Running pipes all over the place?!? I assume you are talking about BELOW ground. And terminals every 250m? Wouldn't that look kinda... ya know, FUXED!? Besides making the world look like the fricken holodeck ("Arch!" *veeem*) it would be another piece of invunerable terrain to run into.

And supply convoys? Sure thing, sounds great. Wait, wait, automated, AI controlled, scripted convoys? No, no, again and forever NO. If the players want to take it upon themselves to make convoys (which they SHOULD) then that's great, they will almost certainly get the ANT to the base successfully.

One thing I like about your suggestion: Cutting ANT capacity. More like by half than 75%, though. So it fills about 3/4 of a base instead of 1.5 bases.
