Theres no need to insult other people's music spec. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes. For example, how you like to have mansechs with squeeks daily.

I hate rap but I don't mind most other music. Most meaning if I hear it and I don't like I can turn it off but the only music I'm sure to hate is rap.

rap = crap imo, i don't like r&b or hiphop either... Theres some rock and metal i like but for the most i listen to techno and trance, the real kind, not that list or clubbing crap hehe.
I listen to whatever sounds good.
MTX - Unlimited.. well
I HATE COUNTRY. You fools in your tight pants and your stupid 10 gallon hats bitching about how your woman left you and your dog died. Get a new woman. They're a dime ah dozen but... the dog is a tragic loss. :(

What was the question? I can't hear you over Rammstein.

Yeah, I guess it's all opinion. But really, England (Well Hampshire) has been swamped! Hip Hop/Rap and Reggae Dancehall are the only real styles that are varied enough to hold my attention. I mean, Rock = Guitars (In every bloody song), R&B (Glamourised Pop music) and I have to agree with MTX, Country ('Why' is the real question)

I admire the drummers' playing more than guitarists'. Rammstein and Megadeath have the best. Drums are a hell of a lot harder than guitar, and the songs would fall apart without drummers, while most can stand without guitars. Linkin Park gets by on good lyrics, and nice all-around instruments. System of a Down get by on awesome instruments, and funny as hell lyrics and vocals.

I concur. Drumming is definatly more difficult. On the flip side the drummers are usually insane.

Oh, yes. I have near-zero respect for vocals when comparing to instruments. So I don't really even consider pop or rap to be music, really. Rap has at least a resemblance, though. I think I'm about the only guy who likes Rammstein and Classical at the same time, though.

uh does anyone listen to avril lavignes music or do you think it sucks i kinda like it some of the songs are pretty good some are.. not
I'm a drummer and have been playing for about a year now. I've played with about 1 or 2 bands and drums are hard, but still, without guitar and bass, it jsut aint a band. You still haev to give credit to the other instruments. Also to singing. It's not easy to sing. Although i admit, drumming is hard as hell. While the guitarists are sittign their flickign their fingers, we drummers are sitting back there moving our entire body around in perfect timing. Finger coordination is one thing, where body coordination is another.
A linkin' park sucks. All their songs osudn the same. You want good rock music? Listen to Indy Rock. Thats where the good stuff is.
EDIT: Avril Lavigasngfanga...Lasanga (whatever) is crap.

When I was in highschool me and my friends listened to Rap exclusively. I dunno if anyone of us really liked it, but we were all trying to be "hard" so it was the thing to listen to. We'd run around, blazed as fuk, and thump to Beanie Sigel, Dre, Ghetto Fab, and others.
Once I went to college and re-evaluated my life and focused on what *I* wanted to do... i realized how stupid Rap is.
The beat is the same monotonous thing, the whole song through. Some black guy goes on and drones on and on about how cool he is, how everyone else sucks, how much pussy he gets, how many cars he has, how many cops hes killed.
The guy will say a paragraph or two.. then the chorus will go on and repeat 9-10 times then he says another paragraph.. chorus repeats.. song over.
Now I listen to music that actually sounds good: Nirvana, Bush, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit (the old stuff, not chocolate starfish crap), and various trance music (i agree with above, not club crap).
Rap can be split up into two categories. "Real rap" and Hollywood rap. Hollywood rap is the crap that rappers like Jay-Z, Ghetto Fab, and other put on. Anything produced by "Murder Inc" is Hollywood Rap. The only people I know that listen to it are:
1. Koreans who have no idea whats going on with the words but think it makes them look harder than their 5 foot selves really are.
2. Some pimply faced black/white teenager who thinks that thumping it as loud as they can in their basement or POS car will make them cool
REAL Rap is the underground shit. Its the Outcast: Aquemani shit. Its the Tash shit. Thats the stuff that the men listen to. I got respect for people who listen to the real rap, it shows they listen to it because they like the music.. not the image.
I dont listen to either types, but i listened to them nonstop for years.. i know what im talking about here.
I listen to rock/metal but mostly rap. Im a wigger :( haha i admit it freely
Edit: yea all of Murder Inc rap is shit

Exactly, most people never get to listen to the rappers with true talent though because they don't always sell the most records. Groups like Jurassic 5, The Roots, Outkast, Talib Kweli and Mos Def are some of the best examples of great rap.
BTW, I agree, Murder Inc. is pure BS.

umm ya sure...... and the drummers job i think is easier. Its so frickin easy to keep a good beat it isnt funny.... yeah it may take the most physical ability, but if you have good coordination and can keep a beat, you can drum.

i don't really like the heavy metal perse, but i do like hard rock, punk rock, and most rock in general. I like some jazz, i like techno, bluegrass, and a lot of things. I like most everything that is somewhat meaningfull, or coolsounding, or that puts me in a cool mood for something (e.g. techno for crazy driving)
But i really cannot understand all of this new rap, it is utter crap.
All it is is people talking about how they have more money than us, how they are violent, how black people are cooler than white people, and it's all with the same stupid 2 bar beat over and over and over again. I like some of it, like eminem, and some of the old stuff, like run DMC, but this new crap, ughgghghghg.

Wrong. First of all you need the shitz of money, drums cost hella. You need to be creative. You cnat play the same beat over and over. And sometimes you dont even need to be able to keep a beat that well. You can make somethign totally off-beat and it will sound awesome. INfact, most of drumming is off-beat. If you play on-beat the entire time you would sound like an idiot. The key to being a good drumming is mixing off-beat and on-beat.

I completely agree. J5, Talib and Mos Def are genius lyricists, and you can't say that they have no talent. Not all rap is about Women, Weed, Cash and Ego, some of it's about life, love, fun etc...(But a lot better than self harm and 'Worthless life' BS that goth shit talks about)
People that don't actually listen to it are narrow minded when talking about it. Some commercial stuff is good though, such as DMX (Not that commercial), Joe Budden, a bit of Busta and some Wu-Tang.
But Ja Rule!!!??? AAAAHHHHHHHH

hell yah drumming is hard, im a drummer (a noob) been playing around 4 or 5 months. Its hard as hell, because you ahve to keep rythm with your entire body, or jsut have your right hand, and your left foot moving together, while your right hand hits the cymbal way above ur head, and ur right foot scratches your ass.
it may look easy, but if you ever try it, you'll b blown away witht he ammount of skill/energy it takes to be a good drummer.

First of all, all good instruments cost a LOT of money. Seriously, a good good guitar 1000+ easily. A good good sax 2000+ easily, so drums arent an exeption.
Secondly, you have to be creative with all instruments as well.
Third, yes you can make something totally off beat sound awesome, but that is because it misses the beat, but still stays at the same bpm. Its synchopated! im talking about being able to keep a steady beat at the same speed throughout the entire song (unless of course the song changes speed).
Look i know a lot about music, and thats because i write music and play lets see, 5 instruments pretty well.
