***NOTE: This patch not available until Monday. This is just FYI so you know what's coming.***
Version 1.4 (6/9/03)
1) Continental Population Cap is now shown on the overhead map interface. This is designed to give you warning when your Empire has enough people on a continent that it is "population locked" and you won't be able to get there via Warpgate or Instant Action or Shuttle. The overhead map now shows you the percentage of maximum at a specific continent so you can easily make travelling decisions before you arrive at a warpgate.
2) The vehicle queuing system is now in place. When you select a vehicle, you will be immediately transported to the driver seat and then the vehicle will autodrive off the purchase pad (air vehicles will fly upward and away) before you gain active control of the vehicle. In addition, your purchasing request enters a "queue" if there are other players in line ahead of you. All you have to do is stay near the vehicle pad and when your turn arrives you will instantly transport to the driver's seat, as normal. If you leave the area, or if you are killed, your purchase request will be voided and your vehicle won't be created.
3) If you hit Grief Level 4 (a very rare occurrence...it has only happened a couple times) you will no longer be able to reenter the game. Your account will be banned. (There was a circumstance where the account wasn't being completely banned. This is now fixed.)
4) Outfit decals now work properly. Previously, only the Outfit leader saw them properly. Additionally, the outfit decals have been positioned more prominently on vehicles so that it shows off better. (NOTE to all users: If you don't see Outfit Names on players, try hitting ALT+N a couple times. One of the Name toggle settings shows player names AND outfit names.) There will be modifications to the way Outfit icons are shown on individual armors in the next patch to improve the aesthetics.
5) The Decimator icon (in your holster) now properly disappears once all three shots have been fired and the weapon is discarded automatically.
6) You can no longer /ignore GM broadcasts. (Not that you would want to...right?)
7) You should no longer see the energy coils inside the Amp Station sorting through the building walls so they are visible from outside.
8) Users are now prevented from ever being able to end up beneath the world after respawning.
9) TR MAX Dual-Cycler has been changed to do less damage per shot against infantry targets.
10) TR MAX Pounder has been changed so its explosion is slightly smaller and so that its damage-at-edge-of-explosion is slightly less also. This brings the Pounder back into balance a bit, and also reduces its grief potential somewhat.
11) The secondary firing mode of the Rocklet didn't have proper delays set on its aesthetic qualities. That has been fixed now to match the actual function of the weapon.
12) Bridges now show up on the VR Driving area map screen.
13) Added a title to the Sanctuary Respawn window so it's more obvious to most users.
14) WARNING! The Phalanx wall turrets WILL fire automatically again...if your Empire owns an Interlink Facility somewhere on the same continent. Beware the auto-turrets if you're in a flying craft!
15) The exploit with the ACE which allowed users to lay mines inside buildings has been fixed. This will no longer be possible.
16) The Boomer explosion effect now occurs as it should. The explosion will now be visible again.
17) Due to legal requirements, the ESRB logo splash screen at the start of the game now requires a 4-second delay before you can "pound" through it with the spacebar. (This is a new law we have to comply with...we wouldn't saddle you with a delay like this voluntarily.)

Wow, I'm really glad to see our men and women in Congress are hard at work!

I shudder thinking about the vehicle queue... I can't wait to see what kinda problems this brings up!
On a happy note OUTFIT LOGO... yeah... I love this kinda crap, can't help it.
The mighty MAX nerfs, seems kinda ballanced, we'll have to see. Looks like the DC will still own other MAX units inside, and the DP won't be as much of a crowd pleaser as it used to be.
And YEAH for the useless turrets doing something again... kill them aircraft!
PAX
But we've already bought the game--why do we need to be constantly reminded of the rating? Agreeing to the EULA hundreds of times is bad enough.
I'm with beavis--some lawmaker needs to take the plastic **** out of his ***.

Wow, this is actually an improvement! I'm tired of damaging myself in close-quarters battles, and this should help.

Looking forward to seeing all thoose shiny decals on all of the galaxys out there.
One question, will the decals show up on the armor of your character if he is in a outfit with a decal?
EDIT: Some things didn't make much sense

I am a reaver pilot, and I won't complain about this. We are the bringers of airborne death and this will help to keep the bases safer.

I don't think I like the auto-drive portion of the vehicle pad. Yes, it prevents a block caused by leaving a vehicle there. However, I prefer control. I wonder how long you will be "auto'd" upon being tele'd into your vehicle. I see vehicles slamming into each other as they drive off the pad. Helpless pilots shot down trying to gain control of their aircraft, or will they fly into each other? Makes me a bit nervous.
I also want to find out the distance from the pad you can be and still be called to your vehicle. Hope you're tethered pretty close.
I also agree with others. Four seconds sure does buy you alot of parental control. Besides, I clicked through them instead of hitting the space bar.
Going to be fun testing some ideas. :D

Welcome to the forum Tatter
Love the name ;)
What was the change on the secondary fire mode for the rocklet?
It's not detailed on "what" the fix was.

Vulcan, use a mind meld.
Hurray on the TR maxes, now i can drop AV and go back to lasher, as i might actually see some terran infantry.
Wonder if purchasing starts the vehical timer, or actually spawning does. Would suck to enter the que with your vehical and then die without seeing it and have to wait another 5 minutes.

I think they just fixed the animation so it matches the firing rate...

Thanks Squeeky.
I'm one of those long time lurkers, recent posters. I appreciate this site being up because I've found the info, for the most part, to be helpful in getting grounded in PS.
Back to lurking.

patch is on Monday Plato.
The vehicle cue should work well in theory. And I'm glad they have people autodrive off the pad, this should speed up the spawning rate. Just imagine if you have 2-3 goobers why get in the que then go afk. Their vehicle spawns then just sits there holding up the line. The autodrive should help this alot.
BIG BIG improvement I think. Overall an excellent patch, I'm impressed they are fixing the logo this rapidly to be honest.
I was actually going to write a letter. ;)

From Sporkfire.
The vehicle terminal will detect what armor you are wearing and whether or not you would be able to drive the vehicle you purchase when wearing it. If you can't drive the vehicle in your current armor, you will not be able to buy it.

Good.
I've always said you shouldn't be able to buy any vehicle you can't drive in your current armor. Not only does it hold up the pad but it screws you since unless you're lucky you probably won't make it back before the V-pad deconstructs your vehicle for being too close which resets your timer for the vehicle you just tried to get.

I could be wrong on this, but I think the "legal requirements" on the ESRB rating are not "law" so much as "contract".
The ESRB probably requires people to conform to certain guidelines to use their rating system.
AFAIK, the industry is still "self regulated".

Most of this new patch are fixes for bugs. When are we going to get the NEW Contents? True.. it's hasn't been a complete month yet, but considering the game didn't come with much contents to begin with, anything new would be nice.
I'm happy about the fixes though. Hopefully the next patch will fix the LAG and LOCKUPS we keep getting. I'm tired of being killed because my MAX won't move. I actually logged into a base, but it was still showing the graphical loading screen. My character was actually IN THE GAME though and I could hear him being attacked and KILLED, even though I couldn't see him. Then the whole game just FROZE. How totally F.U. is that?
Thankfully this doesn't happen that often and hopefully some additional RAM will help solve some of these problems, but I think it's with the game itself.

Forgive me while i have a fanboy moment
WHAT DO YOU CALL ALL THE CONTINENTS? THE VEHICLES, THE WEAPONS THE ARMOR SKINS, THE PARTICLE EFFECTS, THE MECHANICS, THE PHYSICS AFFECTS THE NET CODE
Sorry needed to vent. Seriously this game has 100 times more content to it at launch then eq or uo did and yet people seem to be stuck in this "where's the rest of it" mentality. They have things in the works, more then even what they've disclosed i'm sure, patience is required here because this takes a lot more work then people suspect. Anyways it's not just directed at you but every similar post i've seen like this.
If your not satisfied witht he game in it's current form you have two choices, wait or quit. I personaly am having a blast so i'll wait, yes i want new items etc but i hadnt expected them yet.
No platoons yet i see. :(

The contents that is there are the basics. Of course you got your weapons, armor, vehicles, bases, implants, etc.., but the type of content I'm thinking about is the type that give you incentive to keep playing after you've captured that same base for the 1000 time. Right now the groundwork is in place for this game to expand into something great. There should be other things to do in this games besides forming squads and capturing bases over and over again. That's all that I'm saying. Every other MMO has an abundance of things to do to keep gamers business. Planetside definitely has the least amount of things to accomplish in a game. There is a difference between things you interact with and actually gameplay content.

Well that depends on how you look at content. I'm not disputing your claim, nor am i saying that i'd play planetside forever in it's current treadmill, but seriously you cant realy qualify the leveling "treadmill" or poorly scripted, go there camp a spawn for hours bring back his rare drop, quests as content. I'm just saying planetside has a lot of content beautiful wide open terran (we dont see a lot of it we spend so much time in bases but it's there) and a host of other features. The game is an entity it's evolving soon it will be bigger and better then ever we jsut have to be patient.
