Now, I have this PC
P3 1Ghz
256 MB SDRAM
GeForce FX 5200 (PCI)
I'm upgrading to...
Overclocking to 1.2 Ghz (with a better fan)
512 MB SDRAM
GeForce FX 5200 (PCI)
Anyway is it worth a buck or two?
Or should I get a new PC?

I think you will see a increase but not as much as youre hoping for. Are you just getting more RAM?

I don't think so. I'd just drop ~$50-60 on another 512 megs of RAM instead.

Honestly, running a GFFX on a 1G or a 1.2G is wasting a lot of that vid card's performance. If you have the cash, I'd shell out for a new cpu/mobo - you'll notice a huge performance increase, especially if you step up to DDR.

I would say get a new Mobo and get an AGP video card and DDR ram.
256 DDR ram will perform better then 512 SDram imo. Plus once you have a mobo with an AGP for gfx cards your upgrade potential is limitless. :)

That stuff seems outdated Krogen.
I would seriously think about what I said in my last post.
Don't buy something for the moment buy something that will be there for you in the future.

Yeah I just got a Radeon 9800 pro 256meg video card. nothing really uses 256megs of video ram but give em 6 months and they will. Save youre $ and plan for tomorrow, its a bitch trying to play catch up, instead wait till you can start out at the front.

If you look hard enough you could upgrade to a 2 ghz (New MB included) for around $250. You''ll probably need a new power supply as well though and as for the RAM, 512MB sticks are dirt cheap now.
$150 for that little of an upgrade would definately not be worth it. Save your $150, add another $250-$350 to it and do a major upgrade /nod

150 dollars for some RAM and a fan? Egads. Beat that guy who's charging that much with a bat.

LOL. Anyway, for now, I think I'll just add some RAM for $70 (256x256). I won't buy a new PC until christmas... I could even upgrade to 1.5Ghz but Intel stopped making P3 on 1.13 Ghz! {With a core Taulatin}. Are there any (good) motherboards that support both SDRAM and DDRAM (so I won't throw away my old RAM)?
