Are outfits just basically guilds with a little more use than the average guild of other games?

depends on how you look at things, on paper they are essentially the same, you get a an acronym floating in front of your name and a few friends, but realistically being in a good outfit and practicing regularly will be more important then almost any other game to date. If you go out alone or disorganized you can essentially consider yourself worthless. (unless your doing recon in which case alone=better.)

Well that's a bit out there. Obviously an outfit will do way more damage than a lone soldier but to say the lone wolf is worthless is a bit harsh. A lone MAX or Tank or Infiltrator can do a good deal of damage if in the right place at the right time. :)

Yes but if that lone wolf is up against an organised outfit he stands no chance.

I'm assuming Lone wolves will be a tank maybe or a sniper trying to take out some units on their way across the battlefield to attack a new area. It could work but if the Lone wolf doesn't scatter the enemy then they'll turn that wolf into goo.

Well yeah but it doesn't mean he's worthless, he just isn't right in every situation. Same can be said for an outfit. Yeah you're 15 man outfit will kick that lone wolfs ass. But after that the 240 man outfit behind him will kick yours. Point is there will always be someone better or bigger or both. No one man or team will be owning everybody all the time.

Well ok maybe i will. :p

I think you missing one important part of the equasion, and that is squads.

An orgonised Outfit that practices, plans, and executes attacks will be hard to beat. It's essentially the same thing as a guild, but like mentioned above it's more then just your DAoC/EQ Guild, it's a fighting unit that must train togeather to be effective.

A 'Lone Wolf' will be effective as a sniper, or as a scout, but I doubt it will be useful for much else. Remember that in Planetside there are no NPC Monsters that you can go fight. Every enemy will be a real live person somewhere. In DAoC you can solo against monsters all the time, but if you go into Player vs Player all alone your going to get 0wned. PS won't be much diffrent. If you go alone expect to die alot.

Squads is the piece your all missing. A Squad is what other games might call a Group. Since everyone knows that there is safety in numbers, and that going alone is suicide people will form squads when they play so that they have a better chance of survival.

Well obviously a lone wolf will die a lot. I'm not saying he won't. I'm just saying a lone wolf isn't useless. He can still do a good deal of damage depending on the situation. :)

I dont think they will be useless. But they certainly wont make the difference in a battle hehe
