Are you asking if I use the pen tool to redraw images in vector format? If so, not really. If you are asking if I use a vector mask to do transparency, then every single time.

For pixelation and lossy compression (aka jpegging), I generally use the Smart Blur filter and then edit > fade... to get the blending options and opacity that I want. You can do a lot in the way of removing pizelization by reducing your image size by 10% or so. Further tweaks can be done with some of the adjustment layers (posterize will eliminate pixelization, but it also stylizes the image in the process. The Artistic > Poster Edges filter will do a similar job as Posterize (with better results, imo), but the filter changes the source layer, whereas the adjustment layer leaves everything unedited and just modifies the overall result.

I'm thinking a nice pic of one of the satellites on top of an interlink facility (to kind of represent that I work for an "information" network [PSU]). Possibly a good pic of a TR soldier standing on the left (with the satellite on the right?) Sky inbetween them (possible ground 1/4th the way up the sig, sky on rest?) with Strygun at the Bottom/Bottom Middle/Middle...

Something Professional but cool looking.

Thanks. I prefer to use the lasso for cropping. I start by highlighting the areas that I really want cut out in big sweeps, then I zoom in tight to do the edges I want to keep. By holding down the shift key, I add to the selection until I have everything except what I want selected.

Next step is to invert the selection and hit the vector mask button at the bottom of the layers pallet. By masking instead of deleting the extra image, you can select the layer mask that is created and modify it. Black paint will make more masking, white paint (I think the eraser too) will unmask the pixels under the brush. Use the brush tool on the layer mask to clean up the edges how you want them. The best part is that it doesn't actually throw anything away unless you apply the layer mask. It just makes transparency.

I personnally like to just do a rough crop with the lass otool then cut of the edges with the Eraser, with a background of a co9lor that i can clearly see the edges. I find it to be the easiest and cleanest method, personnaly.
