View Full Version : Something PS needs really bad...

The game is awsome but there is just one thing in my opinion it is missing...the ability to crawl on your stomach. That would be a great feature because it makes you harder to see and harder to hit...it would especially be good for snipers or hiding in the cliffs shooting people.

please read faqs :p

*how many times have I posted that over the last many months.... should have that title "Read The FAQs People!" *

But ayways, there is no prone position since it would slow the game too much, and they dont want to slow the game into the horrid sniper wars that BF1942 is :p

It is just to speed the game up and make everything balanced and NOT a sniper war :p

Besides, I have seen many good snipers that can nail people left and right from those cliffs overlooking a battlefield/base/tower/etc

They actually thought about having this when the game was in early development, but I think it was going to be too much coding (graphics, clipping, etc). Clipping is usually a big problem when you have the ability to go prone.

ture, but didnt the devs in an interview say it was due to game play reasons insted of graphics in the end?

*must find interview and return*

I found it whahahahahahha :p

Here is what the devs said about it:

"We dont deal with headshots, and we dont deal with prone and a couple other things like that because, quite honestly, we feel they take away from the fast-paced action"

you can find it here:

"fast-paced action" = mindless zerging! yay!

prone adds tactical opportunities to lots of situations. who the hell is gonna prone when a max is coming at u anyway.

or prone inside a base for that matter?

prone would re-invite the fear in running alone outdoors.

prone="where the hell is he shooting from?"

instead of what most of the stupid zerg does. which is spawn at a tower and run into the front "gates" of a base.

Ok, I am very very against headshots/prone/etc so this may sound a bit harsh, it is not intended to be, nor to insult anyone, so please dont take it that way.

that is exactally what happens, you dont know why you died, or from where.

That is not fun

Prone helps turn the game into sniper wars, it slows the pace down too much and turns things into BF1942 where you get a sniper, dont move, and kill anything that is dumb enough to do so.

Right now, snipers can hide very well if they think about where they are hiding. So you cant hide in an open field in the middle of an open field. There are many good cliffs, hills, and trees for you to hide in.

Things like prone and head shots wont stop zerging, that is the number of people in the world, not anything else. If 50 people charge your position, it dosnt matter if they run, walk, crawl, fly, swim, or teleport to you, it will still zerg due to the numbers involved.

all prone/headshots/etc do is change the game from a fast pased fighting/KA game, to a game where all the fighting you do is hunkered down in the mud for hours and dying from people you cant see and/or cant hit.

Snipers are good in this game, but they are not the end all of the game like they are in soo many of the sniper games out right now.

Proning would be cheap. I can just picture 20 snipers on a hill, on their stomach, racking up cheap kills. And if the grass was more dense it would be even more cheap.

Well at least until that one reaver/mosquito flew over and saw a bunch of dubass snipers lying on a hill and began laughing maniacally :p

Honestly, kinda sounds like me after getting shot by a jackhammer...

Headshots...no. One shot kills are no thanks. Proning is balanced by being so vulnerable to attacks from anywhere other than in front of you.

????

You have to be point blank to use that, you KNOW where it came from, it was from the guy standing right in front/behind/on top of you... If you miss the big dude running right up to you and then unloading at point blank, Im sorry, but thats your fault :p

prone snipers can be way away, in the middle of nowhere, and kill people when you dont see any enemies around, nor have any idea where the shot came from....

Anyway, it is a moot point, the Devs wont put in it, many dont want it in (some do), end of story.

I've never seen a match of BF1942 turn into a sniper war before, although perhaps it could happen in very small matches, but I don't play small matches.

But anyway, prone is also useful DEFENSIVELY, not just for lame ass snipers. And seeing as the game certainly lacks variety, give light armors prone ability would be a tiny step in adding some.

I heard their reason back in beta of not adding it and it's hot air. Both BF1942 and ET have prone and they are as fast paced if not faster (which is likely cause they are slightly more DM) then PS. Hell RTCW: ET is friggin hyperspeed and you can still prone.

This is what bugs me about the PS devs, sometimes when they don't want to do something with gameplay they just give totally BS reasons, and prone slowing down gameplay falls into that category.

they need to remove a few trees around the bases

Actually, Vulcan, it is very easy to get taken out by a Jackhammer and never see the guy. There have been several times that I've been running down corridors and died before I even realized I was being shot. Whether it has come from behind while I had to stop for a fire fight ahead or a guy that's been standing beside a door or behind something waiting for me to pop out in front of him, it is quite easy to get killed by a Jackhammer and have no idea where it came from...

Point being this, if Jackhammers can do it inside, I don't see why there is a need to limit it in outside battles. Prone position would not be the end all, be all in this game. There are far too many vehicles for it to become an exaggerated problem. But it would help flesh out the sniper role. It isn't like everyone is going to give up a Max suit so they can go crouch out in the bushes.
