So I'm just hoofing it thru the middle of nowhere on the way to the random base number million thirty-five, when I hear the whine of aircraft and the sound of gunfire overhead. I glance up, just in time to see a big fat Galaxy go streaking past on afterburners, being trailed by a swarm of angry reavers and skeet. They appear from the east, disappear to the west, and I never saw them again...
As I was disabling the basement lock at the next site, I wondered where that Galaxy was trying to go, and whatever happened to the crew. It didn't really effect what I was doing, but it just highlights what is the most fun about this game. You figure it out.

That sure proves my point that the devs could take out every vehicle except the reaver and no one would complain :(
TOO MANY REAVERS!

No, I got it. A lot of things happen unexpectadly and leave you in suspense of what happened next, generating some sort of awe. I wonder too, just from the sound of it. Maybe one of those pilots post here and can fill us in. But it just looked like a postcard moment.

Simply Marvelous, Tricky.
The Pure, Organic, Fluid Motion of games like this. That has to be single best reason to play. Anything can happen...and usually does.
when the zerg machine isn't in full affect that is. :P

No, I meant Strygun missed the point, you just responded between when i hit reply and send.
PS. Great postcard, indeed!
PPS. When I looked up and saw that, it reminded me of a scripted trigger from a single player FPS, like how parts of buildings collapse as you get close to them in Half Life. But something was different about this one. It was happening for a reason. Somewhere, a Galaxy pilot was having a really bad day and a squadron of fighters were laughing it up.

Yes I agree, this game really makes me feel in true combat, its not all about you and your team, around you other are having their own battles, some dropping dead, some trying desperatly to hot drop before their Galaxy gets destroyed...man I love this game
Well done Devs...now fix the god damn problem with ATI cards :cries:

LOL, nice one tricky.
And Airlift I understand exactly what you mean. It's one of the best things about the game.

What luck on the find Airlift, one of those things that keep me in these kinds of games are those kind of moments.

This is not the only great aspect of this game. It has already been commented on, but this game really does feel as close to real combat as I've ever felt. While such a comment (from me at least) has no foundation of real-life combat experience, many in my outfit do have such real life combat intensive experiences. And quite a few have commented on the surreal nature of being in a real battle - more closely related to that of WWII, but combat, nonetheless.
And outside of the realms of TKing, ultimate lags, and more n00by TKing, this game also materializes a great sense of camaraderie. And this bond is not just limited to one's own Empire. There have been quite a few instances that (me being a TR loyalist) NC's and Vanus alike have had some very friendly /tell conversations with me during and in between battles. Yes, this game is intense, but it is great to acknowledge that it is simply an addictive game - a highly addictive one at that.

I must agree, Airlift.
Similar experience:
I was running to the next base, as you were in your experience, and as I came upon a road (I was concealed in a stand of trees) a heard some vehicles rumbling down the road. I stopped, crouched, and waited to see who it might be. It was an armored column of 3 Prowlers, a Sunderer, and some Harassers all together (I assumed) heading to some objective. They were busting butt down the road. I watched them go by and just kind of wondered where they were headed. After they passed, it was quiet again. It gave me pause to stop and think: Here was a squad of people with their own intents and goals and hopes.
Pretty cool.

Great Pic!!
i think many of us will begin to see such pics as outfits begin more and more to develop tactics. Our own outfit has been tampering with an idea of a buggie squad, using assault buggies and harrasers (this way we all can stay in reinforced armor).
Well last night, we might be changing tactics.
Cause the Vanu upped the ante.
It was beautiful though. I wish someone had a good video of what i'm about to discribe, cause, even though i was on the receiving end, it was beautiful
Konried last night, Cyssor, we're TR. We actually had control of Gunuku and decided we needed to push on towards Itan held by the Vanu before we got pinched by the NC coming through Faro. Tactical nightmare for me last night (I was SL).
We loaded up a quick buggie strike to make trip faster, two harrasers and 1 maurader. not one of our bigger squads but it was late. We begin rollin', spread out a bit so to avoid cross fire....
rounded a bend headed to the bridge, i had lead buggie.... BOOM!!! wth? as i'm making the turn, i see the first of three magriders in a nice tight formation. that was about all i saw as the other two fired together. BOOM BOOM!!! dead
At this point, the maurader rounded the bend, and the first hit him dead on with a salvo. the other two magriders fired in unision. bam... marauder dead (or near to). 2nd harrasser rounds corner.. BOOM BOOM BOOM. dead
We never stood a chance... and as one squad mate put it.... We got bitched slapped.
But my gawd... i wish there was video tape of it, cause it must have been impressive to see.
