View Full Version : 1.0 to 1.3Ghz CPU gamers???
Im thinking of getting this game but it recommends a 1.6Ghz processor...
are there any gamers out there who are using an AthlonXP 1800+ or an Athlon 1.0GHz CPU?
I would like to know how the game performs on those processors?

I had a friend on an Alienware system that had a 1ghz AMD, with 1 gig ram, and ti4600 and PS ran pretty good. Its going to be the combination of all your components to get solid performance. If your lacking in one area, it will bring it down some. If your lacking in all areas, cpu/video/memory, then its going to suck.

This is my PC:
P3 1 Ghz
512 MB SDRAM
NVIDIA FX 5200 (PCI)
Sometimes (sometimes!) the processor is tied up (in larger battles). Overall: works smooth, with some glitches. :)

1.0 GHz will be cutting it close, but overall you should be fine, except for larger battles.

damn prowler your computer freaking rocks. You know you could have gotten the same computer if you bought the parts separate and put it together yourself for like 2 grand less. it wouldn't have the cool alienware case but it still be the same computer on the inside. i upgraded my processor and mother board and ram for like 160 bucks. amd xp 2 ghz.

Yes I know but, A) I would rather not put together a computer lol B) Alienware has a l33t case C) They test it,burn it in, and benchmark it for you D) They get Nvidia cards in about a week or two before there release.

I  you to. No comment on the 2nd part. ;)
well basically I got two comps right now and was hoping they both would run this game should I buy it.
I have a friend who comes by and plays games sometimes.
Basically this is their run down:
AMD Athlon XP 1800+ (1.3GHz)
512 DDR PC 2100
GeForce4 MX 440 64Meg
SB Live! Digital
Logitech Z560 THX 400Watt (best part of my PC heh)
The next:
AMD Athlon XP 1.0GHz
512 DDR PC 2700
GeForce2 MX400 64Meg
SB 512
The first pc should probably play the game ok, though another chunk of DDR would help it a bit until I can get a new ATI card.
Im not sure the second pc will do the job though, and I cant afford to buy more parts for it at the moment.
So you guys think they will be playable?

On first one? No problem+ with medium/low details. On the next one? Format a hard drive, install a game, defragment a hard drive= will work on low details.
Here's my PC:
P3 1Ghz
512 SDRAM
Nvidia FX 5200
With nothing on a PC, defragmented hard drive every week, no hidden programs/spyware, works fine. In larger battles, though, with little slow downs.

I just ordered Prowler's Monster system from Alienware as well. Trust me, you would not save 2 grand on it piecing it out. You'd save a chunk of change, but nowhere near that amount. Regardless....
I currently am running a P4 1.4 with 1 Gig of RAMbus RAM. I have a GeForce3 and an SBlive! (XP pro). I have horrible framerate issues around base battles to the point of being useless. Is there anything I can do about this? A new video card? A system tweak? Anything? I'd love to have better gaming for the next three weeks until uba system arrives.

Prowler's Monster (it has a name now. Fear.) is my current dream machine, including the Alienware case - not only does it look slick but it does several very intelligent things on the practical side as well (not the least of which is dedicated airflow for the video card.)

Krogen,
Can you give me some tips or advice as to what I need to do here? I defragged less than 5 days ago but that did about nothing. Thanks in advance.

Good setup but maybe switch the memory on the two systems, so long as the motherboard will handle it. Here's my system:
AMD Athlon XP 1900+ (1.6GHz)
512MB DDR PC2700 (suggest 1GB, waiting on delivery  )
GeForce4 Ti4200 128MB
SB Audigy
Serves me quite well and am upgrading the memory to compensate for some of the lag time I see due to memory swapping ... frustrating when your harddrive is churning away and you need to either fight or flight. :(
Give it a go and let us know how it works out. Best of luck to ya!

Go to Start-Programs-Accessories-System Tools-Disk Cleanup
Check everything, and press OK, also you can go to more options and play with that.
Update your PC with Windows Update. (Knew it or not, some update from Microsoft {about one month avaible} that should stop hackers from hacking, slow downs some PCs A LOT. Microsoft works on this bug. Tries to fix it... Maybe that slow downs your PC??)
Again, Defrag your PC.
Delete programs that you don't use. Close all programs before starting a game. (alt+ctrl+del)
