I've been have a problem with playing Planeside. After a few minutes in-game, my computer crashes and my monitor goes into power-saver mode.

I've had to shut my computer down for a few minutes each time after it crashed before I could use it again. I have the same problem online an in the offline training modules.

Any help would be apreciated.

Dont know.. I get that problem sometimes too. Dont know why it was doing that, but I assumed the graphics card was over heating.

Yeah, I think it might be an overheating problem. After its been off for a couple hours, it will play for nearly 10 minutes. If I just let it set for 5-10 minutes, I get about 4-5 minutes of playtime.

How did you fix your ploblem jester?

you should test out your theory. if its overheating It should rash no matter what your PC is running. go run 3dmark in a loops for a while or get a stress test program and see if it crashes then.

I dont know what I did with my computer, but I let it rest more often. My problem definetly wasnt as bad as yours; it would happen after about 4-5 hours of gaming. But it would do the same thing. Perhaps its not overheating, but a problem in the software of the computer.. or the hardware.

At work I had a similar problem too. When I use Adobe Photoshop I had a problem where if I 'filled' in the background that was greater then 11in x 8.5in it would turn off automatically. I problem solved with another employees computer, swapping the hard drives to see if it was caused by software or the hardware on my computer. It worked fine on the other computer, so it was the hardware on mine.
Got a new computer, kept the old hard drive, nothing troubled me again.

Download something like Motherboard Monitor, MBM. It will help you monitor your cpu tempature.

It could be heat, or any number of things. Your more than likely getting some kind of fatal error, BSOD, which XP is set to automatically reboot once it gets. You can turn this off under My Computer > Properties. But not sure how much more you will find out from the error. Just start trying to narrow the problem down.

The problem might be is that you may have to reset your computers drivers... It works for alot of people.
