View Full Version : Question re: pay to play
Stigma

Probably been covered b4 but I'll ask anyway:
I'm one of those people that won't be able to pay via pay-pal or a credit card. Let's just say I'm ass'd out of credit. That said, if this game consumes even half the time tribes did, I'd be more than happy to pay monthly for it.
Are there any other payment options being considered for ppl like me or are we s.o.l? (i.e. cards we could buy at stores...payment center to send to in advance etc)

Seeing as PS is being made by the same company who made Everquest, I can definitely see some sort of cards which you can pay with.

Nothing official so far, although I'd imagine there will be cards you can buy. Although you may want to look into getting a debit card - I use mine for everything. Came with my checking account - no minimum balance, no monthly fees, etc. It functions just like a Visa, save that the money comes right out of the checking account instead of me being billed at the end of the month.
I know National City's debit/check cards have a Visa logo, and I think Comerica uses Mastercard or something like that... most of the big-name banks have 'em if you want.

Can't remember where I read it but I do believe that the time cards will be the way most people play. Here's another question: Will there be a card in the box when the game ships or will that be another cost right off the bat?

Normally you have to buy each separately, if it wasn't the gmae would probably have a big price increase as they need to get that money to keep up staff and servers

wow. thinking about this - that would kill my wallet. if it was as low as 10 a month thats 120 dollars a year. ONE HUNDRED TWENTY DOLLARS!!! a year! yipes
well maybe they'll have bi-monthly cards for 20. that works.
And 20$/2months is better than 10$/month how?? :D
And i used to think that MMO costed a lot too until people here pointed out that 10$/month is more or less the price of 1 movie at the theaters or a few bag of chips or whatever. I.E.Not a lot at all. :)

yea but if u dont ahve a job it sux! :p
btw.. umm.. i dont wanna pay every single month but a bi-montly thing is manageable since its easy to scrape up enough cash. anyway i dont wanna pay a lump of 120 for a year, nor constant 10 dollar payments. blah.

They may have it where its like calling cards in different amounts. Say 1 month is 10 or 15, 2 months is 20 or 30, etc. etc.
Well i very much think they will have different cards, i would assume/hope for something like a 1month/10$, 3months/25$, 6months/45-50$ and 1year/90-100$.
Would be useful to have those types of intervals and it would be cool to have the usual buy a X month subscription and get X free month thing.

What I wanna know is:
When you buy the game and activate your account, do you get one month (or any amount of time) free starting then? Or do you need to pay the first monthly fee to even start playing?

Sometimes you get 1 month free but you have to pay for a month at least but you get 2.
Yeah i assume they will use the same EQ tactic that doesn't really change much. :)
