A friend of mine is having problems with his laptop. It orignaly had Windows 2000 (I think) but it is all screwed up now. I can't get anything to work and it is moving REALLY slow. Now, i could spend a long time trying to diagnose and fix the problem (wich I beleive stems from clicking the yes button on every thing that ever pop uped on his computer) or I could just wipe the whole HD clean and do a clean install.
This brings me to my question, will regular copies of Windows 98/200/xp work with laptops or do you need some special kind of laptop version that contains drivers for the integrated laptop type things? Thanks in advance.

A normal copy will work fine. You will probably have to download video, sound, and network drivers from the laptop manufacturer's website though. Network being the trickiest, so be prepared to put it on a floppy or burn them. Sometimes you can get lucky and XP will have the drivers though.

Thanks for you help, but i didn't need it. I go over there to fix it, expecting to have to reinstall windows and see a system recovery disk laying on the floor. So I just popped it and set it back to the factory settings. Really easy, really nice, made myself a pretty penny for zero work.
