Possible Low-Tech Shoutcast...

Thanks to Earlydawn's curiosity and openess to share, i may have found a way to do a low-tech shoutcast.

With the program i recently posted about, Mercora (thanks Frag), Earlydawn discovered that you could send a mic input over your broadcast with the touch of a button. Now all the listeners would have to have Mercora installed and ready, and at least have a basic knowledge. If there is a lot of explaining with a lot of people, i'll look into a getting a short tutorial written by myself or a volunteer.

Now i'm thinking about tonight or tommorow night, not sure. Check here around 9-10 pm PST for the solid date.

And i'm also assuming we can use the PSU IRC channel, but if there is some kind of permission that is required, i ask Hamma to please allow the use of the channel.

Thoughts? Comments(positive, please)?

What are you going to broadcast about? Anything specific, or just for test/fun?

I might also want to include a little paragraph in there explaining that the music being played is not your normal music. The music that would be played would be very unique and possibly controversial. Listeners must be open to the idea of listening to, in their eyes strange music, and not harass the broadcaster about changing the song.

The program displays what song is playing, so you can see when the song playing changes. You can turn off your sound, or leave, or whatever until the next song comes, if you really cannot stand it.

And let loose guys, dont get uptight. It's all in the name of fun.

You don't have to use PSU's IRC channel. Create your own channel.

just type /join #channel name

it will automatically make the new channel with you as an op... I could do it if you wanted tho, just tell me when... sounds like fun...

I'm all for something like this, I'd definatly listen... hell 1024, you introduced me to Muse, and since my music library is so incredibly limited... maybe i'll hear something I like...
