Re: AGN Community Night March 2012 Recording At around 1hr 58min when the conversation turns to thanking the devs for working with the community. That is great, I just disagree with the part about it being unique. Rare, sure, but not unique. BioWare recently flew out over 200 people to their Austin, TX headquarters to get feedback on SW:TOR. BioWare paid for their plane tickets and their rooms at a hotel. During and after the event, the devs hung out with the various guild leaders and got massive amounts of feedback. They livestreamed the event and said they will post the recordings soon. http://www.swtor.com/guildsummit This also wasn't the first time they did this. Before the game came out, they had 2 fansite summits where they paid for everything. http://www.swtor.com/media/trailers/fan-site-summit http://www.swtor-life.com/events/fan...t-2-news/4402/ I know this as I am an officer in a fansite/podcast guild that got invited to all 3 of these events. http://moseisleyradio.com/ I've mainly been forum lurking on this site for a while now, never really had much to say about the game since it's in early beta and anything I comment on can change. I will say that I look forward to coming back to Auraxis with the friends that I meet back in Planetside in the Digital Marines(Emerald) outfit, which we later left to form LiquidForce(Emerald). I loved doing the Engineer stuff back then and can't wait to see what new stuff Engineers can do in PS2. |

Re: AGN Community Night March 2012 Recording Actually, I would have to respectfully disagree with you, ComerEste. I understand and respect the deal of flying fans out to a big shindig on their dime. But the personal and frequent interaction with the fans on fansites and tweets is much different. The devs with PlanetSide 2 have spent much of their personal time showing up to events, and generally mixing it up in personal interactions with the fans of the game. Certainly flying select fans out to an event is indicative of attention, but I can't agree that it compares to the interaction we have enjoyed with these guys. I have personally seen these guys go to great lengths to show us things about the game, not because they must, but because they love the game so much they want to share it with us. It is like a big surprise that is almost too hard to contain amongst friends. I may be missing it, but I think they are a unique group of devs that are involving a fanbase they really enjoy. |

Re: AGN Community Night March 2012 Recording Before SW:TOR came out, every convention that BioWare went to, some of the devs actually stood in line with people waiting to play the game. They didn't do it because someone told them to either. They wanted the game to be great, and they knew that what makes an MMO great is the community behind it. So they go out of their way to be a part of the community. They go on podcasts, they visit our forums, we can email or tweet them and they will respond, and after the events they went to the local bars to hang out with people and even buy them rounds. Heck some of them even have characters in our guild. I am not trying to put down your experiences with the SOE devs, nore am I trying to say BioWare devs are better. I am glad that SOE is taking more interest in the community because I have seen that it actually does work for BioWare. Getting feedback from people who want the game to succeed as much as the dev team does is never a bad thing. I hope they continue interacting with the community even after launch. |

Re: AGN Community Night March 2012 Recording
I'm sorry but that's just PR really. We interact with the devs and their team on literally a daily basis. That's why I go as far to say they are actually part of the community. And we actually see the effects of our feedback. |

Re: AGN Community Night March 2012 Recording So more or less we don't know anything about things that can make this game big. All this shoot here-there, weapons, ammo, base wall here-there we've seen zilion times probably much better than here. When we gonna hear more about commanders, resources, outfits, outfit points outfit ownership, base upgrades etc. I hope this game will give us some purpose to play it otherwise ill play BF3. |
