Developer spotlight with Margaret Krohn

Todays developer spotlight is with Maragret Krohn, Assosciate Game Designer on PlanetSide 2!

Do you play male or female characters? Or both?

I normally play female characters, but if there's a bad arse looking guy, sometimes I will play them.  In PlanetSide 2 you'll most likely always see me playing a female character.  That's something I have to say is really rad about PlanetSide 2.  As a female a lot of FPS don't even have female characters, so I have no choices.  It's always the question of which male character I want to play.  In PlanetSide 2, I can play a female character and customize her to my liking!  Really awesome.

Yes the meaning of indie was straitened out, thanks, however ignorance does not mean a lack of intelligence.

I really do have to laugh at all these hipster gamers, though, iv been playing path of exile with a bunch of my guild for the last 2 weeks and the Diablo 3 hate in the game is speewing, so many saying its so much better and with more depth than diablo 3, etc etc....then you get into D3 beta...Diablo 3 is Diablo 3...Path of Exile is D2 clone, there is no comparing it to D3.

Love the D3 beta, a very solid game. Even as a very, very casual D2 fan (never could get really into it) I enjoyed myself a lot playing around in it and I loved the worlds. I think hipster people themselves are funny because there are plenty of people trying to be so anti-mainstream that its sort of mainstream.

Oh GOTR 555th, we will forever have a place in PS2 history by nurturing the awesomeness that was Maggie/Margaret. Or it might have been the other way around, probably not important...

Regardless thanks for the shout-out!

If Khron was a man this thread would be 2 pages, max.

Josh, Kevmo, Arc, and Jon need some more credit.

Does she do lizard bottling? Can she provide insight into this activity? If not this thread must die.

Much of it has been an infected debate around the definition of "gamer" and mainstream games.

Anyway, is this the first confirmation of female avatars in PS2?

No, they have been confirmed a few months ago with female avatars artwork.

Hmm if you're going to go with colored contacts, they should be purple to match everything else, I think.

Re: Developer spotlight with Margaret Krohn

This is not a knock at all to Margret... but I wonder what she was in college for.. because it doesn't sound like game design.. yet she is in the position i've been doing at an amatuer level and going to college for for years. That either means SoE is a great place for me to try my luck due to this apprenticeship I keep hearing about... or some other factor is in play.

Edit: Also, just to make it seem less like a whine fest due to my not being where she is (Congratulations absolutely), I am in Georgia where game development is just really starting to pick up, and the education out here was horrible for many of the years i've been pursuing this, so i'm not surprised by my "lack of luck". I also haven't tried extremely hard due to my being a student still.
