GDC Community Q&A

We didn't have any PSU staff on the ground at GDC 2012 this year but the community stepped up in a big way! Both Captain1nsaneo and Mnementh2230 represented both PlanetSide Universe and more importantly the community as a whole. Combined with basti's skills for question collection on the forum we were able to get a bunch of information. 

Q: How will Infiltrators be able to sabotage enemy equipment?
A: By blowing equipment up. Gens will now be interactive things and not require heavy fire power to bring down.

Q: Are resources are gained both individually and by empire? will there be a correlation between them ensuring the players are mindful of both and not just their own?
A: Resource gain is based on territory held by the empire and paid out like dividends to everyone.

Special thanks to the devs for taking time out of their evenings and answering questions for the community. Also don't forget to tune into the Auraxis Global Network this coming Saturday March 10th at 7PM Central time! We will have several community members that attended the GDC event as well as the normal round table discussions.

Something missed in the interview was about Max Crashes.

Just about everything will be governed by physics. The main reason that Drop Pods will kill players and vehicles is because they are phyiscal objects crashing into things. Tanks kill players this way (heavy object impacting a light object = squished light object), and Maxes will be able to do the same thing. Then Captain1nsano asked 'So, how dynamic will a max crash be' and higby respnded 'Dynamic as fuck'

We all got a good laugh out of that one.

So, your saying that if Max Crashes will have the run option on it'll be like a herd of bulls and buffalo in a stampede, running over any squishies in the way?

The main reason there was cursing against you Basti was that the list was so bloody long.

Anyway, thanks to Roy for giving more info on MAX crashes. I didn't catch the meaning behind that exchange as lots of other stuff was going on. I also remember a few other things that were mentioned that I forgot in the main write up.

-Auraxis has lower gravity than Earth. Mags would not work on Earth.

-Voice macros will be in but in a smaller form as voice chat is now in game. However, the guys did recognize that they were fun.

-I may or may not have heard from someone that they may or may not be near Seattle some time. Can't really say I remember the specifics.

Also since most of my rambling preamble was cut along with the explanation on why every question wasn't answered, I'll put back up the question PR gave to us.
"If you hadn't played PS1, would you be as excited now for PS2 as you were when you were when PS1 was first coming out?"
I'm pretty sure the PR team would love to get more than just 2 fumbling responses.

Was great being there and I really enjoyed meeting up with with other PS vets. My voice still hasn't recovered.

Always funny how people's perspective of a person changes after they meet or play together. Was good to meet you too. You seem like a nice kid.
