Eurogamer.net was offered a update on Sony Online's coming up games and one of them was Planetside Next.
"We've announced publicly that the game is in development," SOE president John Smeldey tells Eurogamer, "it's a game that's codenamed PlanetSide Next.
"And we haven't announced a release date for it but you can expect it... We're looking at late first-quarter, early second-quarter [2011]."
Looks like we will be seeing it soon. Anyone else curious why there has been no information if the game is coming out this soon? Discuss it on our forums!

Re: PlanetSide Next Spring 2011? Ok so with his confirmation to expect in Q1 or Q2 I see basically two realistic possibilities. The first is that its not a full blown sequel but some kind of reworked edition of the first Planetside. With updates an possibly a new subscription model with F2P options. The other is that he is just hyping it an that's not really releasing so much as being revealed to press for the first time. An possibly going into Beta. I just don't see them launching a full blown sequel out of no where with no media up to this point. It just doesn't happen unless SOE are really just that stupid. You want to give people time to hear about the game an hype it not just go Ahhh surprise! |

Re: PlanetSide Next Spring 2011? Well screw this I am excited as hell. I don't care everything SOE did wrong to hype the game if a game is good the word will spread fast. Just look at Minecraft how much PR did notch have for that game? I will stick my neck out and say none except for the players who loved the game and talked about it. So just because SOE hasn't started this enormous hype around PSN won't automatically mean it will fail. If they manage to produce a good game I think it will succeed. Well that was my two I will just crawl back into the hole I came from now.
