Crashing like a bitch

My game has been crashing like a bitch every 30mins

And its super frustrating when you get dropped from Platoon and dropped back in the warp gate

I have heard others with the issue since the last few patches.

Really hope this is addressed soon.

I do get random crashes but luckily it's not that often.

I do wish there was a short window to log back in and still be in your original location and squad. Even if it was only 2-3 minutes.

Shiteload of crashes since the pre Vegas patch.
I think they threw in every bug they had to see how many we actually notice.

One of the great things about being at SOE live (besides meeting and talking with some of you in person- which is an AWESOME part) would be the chance to watch how people really play the game and get a sense for what you folks do when the game has glitches and crashes.

I spent as much time as I could watching and talking to see how it acts "In the wild" to help us coders go through the crash and log files and catch more of these remaining problems.

Every crash sucks (because there is no good time to crash) and the chance to chat first hand with folks who are having trouble is invaluable.

That said, I have some log files to dig through tomorrow morning for certain...

The last week I spent all my time tracking down heap corruption in a new install on a customers site, always fun ! The stack traces for the most part were garbage and didn't even point towards heap corruption. In the end gflags caught two very hard to find cases... One driver that was ported from 32 to 64 bit and someone was trying to cast a 64 bit pointer into an int (obviously worked fine in 32, but not 64), dereferencing it later was causing a right mess... The second was some bad bounds checking in an array.

They would have taken forever to find without gflags, If the issues looks heap corruption related i would recommend giving it a whirl. You're probably familiar with the concept. It adds memory blocks before and after your 'new' allocations and monitors for anything accessing them. If it does; it throws a guard access exception at the exact source of the corruption. A great tool that comes with windows as standard ! It does have a pretty big performance hit though in applications that are allocating/deallocating lots of memory often. You can turn it on from command line, PM me if you have any questions .

Might not be of any use to you, but i thought i would throw it out there !

Crashes have increased for me tremendously after recent patch. Before maybe a crash pr night. Now at least once per hour.

the latest patch has really introduced some problems.
starting the game crashed my videodriver somehow.

since i bought my rig exclusively for ps2 and there is a clean win7 and nothing but ps2 on this machine i am kind of sure that it was caused by the patch. had no issues of that kind before.
when i start the game, i get only music and a black screen. when i alt tab out and back in, i get the correct screen. but i get some video driver not working error. couldn´t read the error because i was playing on my tv on high resolution and it was too small.

It's pretty much been the same for me sadly. Sometimes it just a CTD but I've also been getting blue screen crashes as well as the PC just locking up. It happens often right after I pull a Mag which sucks because I know when I get back in game that it's still gonna be long wait on that timer

I rolled back my nvidia driver to 306.23 and my client stability returned.

I did the same since 306.81 was constantly crashing to blue screen. Things were fine until the patches from last week.

Had a weird glitch right before I crashed tonight. Well, more like froze. All of the terrain disappeared, my gun, the sky and a few building elements (like lights, etc.) remained visible, kept freezing, but it allowed me to exit out.

Memory leak? Not sure what that even is to be honest, but it sounds good, lol.

Is anybody getting the G4 error when the game crashes, just dumps you to the website? I too am getting that and "Planetside2.exe" failures. I also have noticed a dramatic loss of performance, which I have mostly regained from doing some tweaks to the game, even though it played on high graphics settings without issue before. I still have hope, and still love the game, I just can't wait for the performance and stability improvements.

Things in game are allocated chunks of memory, when they are no longer needed, the game is supposed to release the chunks of memory back to be usable again. Something(s) in the game are not releasing this memory. Your usable memory gets lower and lower until it cannot function, then crash.

The same - was surprised by this many CTD. Hopefully this will be sorted out before the doomsday.
