Thats my guess.
Since this last patch it has been out of control. And its not because there more people playing. There are lag issues in off hours too since the patch. Hit boxes keep being desynced from graphics. Stuttery movement. Lag in activating abilities sometimes. Frequently dying after what appears on client side to be one hit. Im guessing that in the efforts to render more stuff that servers or buses at the servers (or something related im not a network engineer) are not able to sort and send everything that effects us as quickly as they could before.

Nope - we found a big cause of it after this weekend. We were saving characters with each cert point earned - a remnant of earlier days when a cert point took a long time to earn so we wanted to be sure to force a save then instead of during normal periodic save process. During double XP that was happening a lot and making the problem even worse, on average with every kill earned we were saving. Caused a lot of server lag - things will run much better now.

So is this a database issue?
Is this a network issue? Is it both? Are the databases that store the player information co-resident on the same servers that produce the game environment? |

A bunch in my outfit pushed through the lag to get as much as we could, and still had a blast (those that could get past the lag anyway... some couldn't stand it) |

I got an absolutely absurd amount of certs this weekend, and I don't think I played all that much, so I can't complain all that much.
I'll tell you what though, the issues with repairing, to the point where it took 3 people a minute to repair a Sundie or a turret really made things more difficult. At some point I'd like to get an "under the hood" answer as to why the issue that Matt described caused all the performance issues we saw this past weekend. Sent from my California fondleslab. |

now that´s some excellent communication!
thanks for the detailed info! most gamedevs just say "we fixed it" and that´s it. nice we get the opportunity to understand a few things that are happening behind the scenes! and congratulations on catching this bug!
