News: Alpha Squad Name Reservation and Beta Closure

If you've already purchased Alpha Squad, you know it has some great benefits such as weapon unlocks, a camo set, and tons of Station Cash. Starting this week, we are happy to offer even more.

4 days without ps2 ? good the game is poor , hopefully soe will use the 4 days to implement more ps1 stuff .

the more people tell soe that ps2 sucks the more they will change it , stop sugar coating things .........

If you don't like it don't play it. Spend your time in a game you do enjoy.

Everyone knows that the only way to make PS2 good is to put in more stuff from the game that is dieing, duh. Personally really like ps2, has stuff to fix but what game doesn't.

Ps1 is still there, the devs have said they wont shut it down. So if anyone prefers to play it rather than ps2, theres nothing stopping them.

Yes, logistics and giving fighting over bases some meaning is what killed PS1.

Not the piss poor management, netcode, performance, hacking, balance, etc.

I doubt most people want the above to be copied from PS1.

No open beta?
So much for it will be done when its done. I honestly believe we will all look back on this rushed release as a big negative turning point the game took. I have a lot of faith in PS2. But SOE never has failed to dreadfully amaze me.

maybe they;re using closed beta to acctually test a game for once and not as some marketing ploy? i dont see it as a bad thing.

I suspect that, post-launch, PlanetSide 2 will be open beta in name only, as Higby said they plan to never stop adding to the game's content...

What I don't want to find is that they've rushed the hotfixes like they did during SOE Live, all so that they can promise releasing it for November 20th. Most players will understand if there's a slight delay; the important thing is that the game is stable, or nobody will be particularly happy.
