PlanetSide - How much Longer?

How much longer do you think PlanetSide will last? Post your reasoning and projections here.

I think it'll last up until HL2 releases in March 2004, if that long.

It will last until the next Massively Multiplayer Online Combat Game is released, at least.

I don't think you appreciate how many people play this game or are planning to get computer systems to be able to do so. Also, school is in full tilt, so you're seeing the lower side of the average population. You also seem unaware of the technological superiority of this software.

Just because you've played the hell out of a game, don't make the mistake of projecting a jaded attitude upon it.

PlanetSide is healthy and happy, and believe me there would be a massive outcry if it were no longer available.

i concur

sure theres been a nasty drop in population since school started up, but there are still plenty of fights. PS wont die for a good while.

Once they come up with an expansion that adds really cool stuff that's worth paying for I'm sure the game will be revitalized. I was incredibly disappointed with Core Combat, as it was lightyears behind what I was hoping they'd devise, yet at the same time, were they to make an expansion which actually adds significantly to the game, I would certainly be very excited over it.

So, hopefully their next expansion is a bit better.

I don't think this game is going anywhere. I know I'll be playing Half-Life 2 the week the game comes out, but I'm not leaving PS for HL2.

What, you want me to go back to playing on servers where the max is 32 people? HA! That's so 1999.

I don't think the next game like that won't be out until 2006, since few companies can afford or are willing to invest in the time and money it takes on such an endeavor. Sony is one of the few that can afford it, and M$ is focusing on Xbox and only releases Flight Sims for PC now, anyway.

I think it will last for another 3 years but it depends if a competion pops up that is MMO.

Even the crappiest MMORPG's never get the death they deserve. So, assuming you think Planetside sucks, why would it ever "go away"?

Twice the length from the middle to the end.
It'll last about 6-7 months more I rekon. Maybe a year if they add something good for free. (Expansion packs that need to be bought + subscription bases game = dumb idea)

For me, I will probably play it until Tribes: Venegeance comes out. If T:V gets owned by the TW cry babies, probably longer.
