The Planet's Name is a Rip-off

the Planet is PlanetSide is a total Rip-off of the planet in the Movie "Dune". The whole movie revols around a planet nicknamed "DUNE", the real name of the planet is Arrakis. Which is pronounced almost exactly the same as the planet, Auraxis of Planetside. Planetside is slowly dimming away from Genius. THEY NEED A NEW NAME FOR THE PLANET OR THEY BETTER GET SUED. Go Watch Dune its an old movie and it shouldn't cost you much, it fairly long and it is also a fairly good movie. it very strange.

It'd be tough to sue someone because the name of the planet in their videogame sounds like the name of a planet in your movie. In fact, I'd say it'd be impossible.

Fine...!

if you watch the movie, and then listen to the ACN radio Planetside thingy you will see they sound EXACTLY the same. Just spelled different. It still a complete rip-off even if it wasn't intended

First, Dune was a book (and series of books, 6 of em total, I've read 'em all ) before it was a movie. Second, AGN (not ACN) is NOT from Sony!!! It was done soley by PS-U. Just because he pronounced it that way doesn't make it the "official" pronunciation. That's not how I'm going to pronounce it. In my opinion, it's pronounced Araksis (as in axe) not Arrakkis, and Au doesn't necessarily make an A sound, it might be pronounced like "Aura", Oaraksis? Or like Australia, Ahraksis?

It's all a matter of perspective.

They shouldn't be prenounced the same even if they have been. Auraxis I believe is prenounced (r-ax-es) and Arrakis is (a-rak-iss).
Not spelt the same and not prenounced the same. However Arrakis could be (ar-ak-iss) and Auraxis maybe (a-rax-es). Where ever the sylabol is put the ending is different still, even if close.

The film(s) sucked, but the books are lots of fun. I don't think it would affect the game in a negative way at all if they did borrow more ideas from dune.

But this rubbish about the name of the planet is pretty stupid

I wonder if PlasticGEAR is on to something. I mean, it's entirely possible that a Dune fan sitting in his basement pronouncing words is on to something that Sony's (who is on course to profit 270,000,000,000 yen for the year ending 03/2003) legal team didn't consider when they checked off on the names involved in this game.
