Question Vehicle Seats Question

Are vehicles in ps2 still locked to position (driver can't change to gunner and vice versa) or is it like BF3?

Kinda hope it's like it was in the original.

Good question. I think I remember them saying that as of now passengers can change positions without getting out, but it was unclear if that applied to drivers too. I hope they don't let drivers change seats without getting out of the vehicle because THAT would severely affect the need for bringing an additional gunner.

If I ever hear that they let people switch seats instantaneously from inside the vehicle, that will be one of the very few things to really bring down my hype.

im sure they will not allow it. imagine a gal with one gunner all he hast to do is switch seats and he can attack from the other side. or attacking a lib from the air and all of a sudden the ball turret starts shooting.

not sure what article or q&a, but it was stated that you can switch from driver/main-gun to secondary gunner, just like in BF3. which would mean its almost instant.

Re: Vehicle question

I thought I heard that some vehicles which had their gunner position crewed by a 2nd person in PS1,the gun control was just going to be given to the driver? IF that is true, and that's the philosophy of the Planetside devs, then they may as well allow vehicle position switching. If they aren't going to fully embrace multi-crewing of vehicles, what's the point of not allowing internal position switching?

For the record, though, I think they should require multi-crewing. But you can probably chalk this up as another good gameplay feature destroyed by companies deciding to "Lower the Threshold".

They could also do what Project Reality does (or used to do), allow switching, but you can't use the gun turret for a certain period of time. PR was like 30 seconds, that's excessive, 5 seconds might be plenty to prevent seat switching of the kind you could do with BF2 attack chopper TV missiles.

not sure if you can hot-swap in all vechs, i would assume the liberators main gunner could swap back and forth between the tail seat, but alot of vechs have multiple seats so theres really nothing to worry about. this really only effects MBT's.

There was no vehicle in PS that let you swap weapon/driver position.

Mac is correct. In a recent interview with Higby, he said you can warp between seats (driver, gunner, passenger) just like in Battlefield.

I really don't think that's as big a problem as some of you guys are implying.

Higby has mentioned we will have vehicle permissions again. Beyond that we do not know much.
