The only thing a concept like a MAX crash implies is that the game MUST be balanced so that no single unit is overpowered or the best thing you can find against every other unit.

As long as a MAX is well balanced against everything else, more effective against some things and vulnerable to others, it will be fine.

If your empire sees the MAXes coming and is able to counter them, great. If not, they will make a big dent, but you will soon be able to counter and potentially push them back.

Things like MAX crashes are one of the simpler large scale organized tactics, but they still do require a fair amount of planning and coordination to be any good. They deserve the reward of potentially pushing through your defenses for their efforts.

Just so long as there are ways of countering it.

Same goes for everything. A giant column of tanks is really no different, nor a swarm of aircav.

Even snipers shouldn't be a problem in the game, even if there does end up being OSK's.

That's what is great about Planetsides scale. There is never really a wrong choice for what role an individual wants to fill. No snipers? Great, be the only sniper. 50 snipers? Great. Add to their numbers and make it an overwhelming storm of bullets. Yet at the same time, as long as it is properly balanced, that lone sniper can still do some good and those 50+ snipers can still be easily countered.
