You sure they weren't more concerned about the shield that regenerates faster than it can be damaged? >_>

Obviously one on one a BFR would wreck a tank anyway but we won't have to worry about them and their ridiculous shield regeneration. The weapons themselves do belong in the game though, properly balanced of course.

I'm not so sure about the particle cannon. That was the one that was basically the mag "cannon" but better right? Seems like giving that to the NC as an option would kind of kill the uniqueness of the two empires.

Each ammo box had only 40% capacity of the Mag Rail Beam and it took up a lot more inventory space, had a slower firing/reload rate, and it was the classic NC-style heavy hitting round which wasn't accurate from range mounted on a vehicle that was hardly maneuverable compared to a magrider and provided the driver and gunner with a constantly shaking screen unless you stopped moving completely and even then your line of sight was unreliable. Not to mention it is much easier to kill softies with a magrider than a particle cannon, the most you could hope for is that they have no med/rep juice and would be flushed out of cover by the slow AOE drain. Technically it did convert mass into plasmoid energy so you could change it into a larger rail gun with purely physical ammunition but it still makes sense to give the NC the most powerful single-shot weapons.

Standard shell rounds already do that though, so what's the point of adding the PC? The only thing I can figure is that it uses a projectile that travels in a straight line at high speed, and thus is more effective at long range. Which, historically, has been what the mag is supposed to excel at.

Adding a 150mm cannon to the top of an NC BFR would topple it over every time it fired. The energy itself is more based on plasma/radiation which everyone already had access to in small-arms combat. I believe the larger cone of fire on the PC made it very balanced as a straight-line weapon especially when you took the shaky camera or being a sitting duck into account.

Regardless, substituting the PC for a heavy rail gun would be fine by me, very high speed rounds that do the most damage per shot and maybe have a similar radiation effect, you could call it depleted radioactive material. That way it would be affected by gravity and wind resistance so that it has light damage degradation and bullet drop so it won't be identical to Vanu weaponry.

You want the Vanguard in PS2 to have a particle cannon because putting a 150mm on top of a BFR would be unrealistic? I'm not understanding why this is a thing that absolutely has to be in the game.
