True that kill cams are for learning, but the kill cam that we displayed at GDC wouldn't work for that at all. One way to really learn from a kill cam is if it replays the kill so you can actually see how you died.
Edit: Another way to is a stats screen that shows who killed you, what rank they were what they did it with and what implants/class they were using. No one should want that in an MMO FPS where there are huge amounts of people dieing all the time. This isn't because it'd load down the server, the developers could reasonably figure out a way that it wouldn't if they really wanted it. No the reason it's a bad idea is because it utterly ruins tactics for small groups. Unfortunately that is all beside the point and doesn't matter at all because also displayed in the GDC videos was a tab just to purchasing taunts. If you think they're gonna be putting purchasable taunts into the game then of course they're gonna need a way to encourage people to buy them. Last edited by Kran De Loy; 2012-03-07 at 01:12 PM. |

I think this is probably going to be the one final test to see if the developers are looking at and considering our feedback. It seems almost the entire community is not liking the killcam, myself included.

We are but so far a tiny portion of that community, give it a couple days at least and maybe over a hundred or two votes 'no' before they even bother to take any action on trying a different kill system.

I like the idea of a corpse cam that rotates smoothly to the general direction of the attacker. That way 90% of the time you die you will get to watch a battle happen while you wait out the respawn timer instead of staring at a wall. I support an implant for attackers that disables the directional thingy.

I'm one of the few people that vigorously debated the merits of having a kill cam. After seeing it in action in GDC, I don't like it. It was dumb. You learn nothing from your death, and there was no redeeming quality to it. The best thing I can say about it was that it was short.
I'd still like to see some sort of new kill cam, perhaps a new idea that hasn't been done yet, but the current incarnation sucks. And the PS1 death cam was even worse because you could give live intel to your allies for minutes at a time with 0 risk. I would do it all the time taking out a gen or CC hold. Let's not view the PS1 death cam through rose colored glasses. It was even worse than what we saw ad GDC. The kill cam should be 1) a learning experience or 2) cool. And what I saw at GDC was neither. |

I do not understand the necessity of a kill cam.
When I get shot down, I would rather have ia corpse-view with information about the closest medic (to know if I should wait) and 2 options on screen: - display respawn menu - display info/stats about attacker When I am not interested into it, I do not like being forced looking at someone else's jumpy screen. I'd rather take a look at his stats screen WHEN I choose to. VOTED: "it needs to be changed" Last edited by sylphaen; 2012-03-07 at 01:37 PM. |

There's no reason for a killcam in the epic size and scale of a game like this at all. I'm sure they will listen to us(especially in beta) when we start to petition against the killcam being in-game.
Game looks great and ready to test and I know the kinks will be worked out quickly, but just a few tiny things to address like the killcam. |

I'm not overtly opposed to the kill camera, sure it gives away your position but the chances that you're going to be sitting in the same spot when that particular guy is going to have the chance to do anything about it is pretty slim, not to mention that he's gonna have a hard time picking you out of the dozens of other players that will no doubt be shooting at him. I could take it or leave it, honestly. |

Please no killcam. This is not CoD or Battlefield. I love knowing where the enemy is as much as the next guy but I don't want every man and his dog to be on my ass after I shoot one person.
I'm completely willing to give up knowing the exact enemy that killed me if it means they don't know either. Saying that, I wouldn't mind the camera panning towards the direction you got shot from. That's okay, but don't track the guy so he is always in the centre of the screen. |

I want it to show how you got killed like COD because that makes dying more fun. In a game like Planetside it doesn't matter how you see this stuff because the maps are so huge you aren't going to be staying in one place too long.
