I see this all the time unfortunately, and when I tell people not to do it, the response ranges from ceasing their rampage against the turrets to one dude telling me his outfit did it all the time and it was "the right thing to do in case they get the base back and start shooting at us!" Ooookay.
It's not the right thing to do. Spread the word. I'll share a little "worst case scenario" that happened last night on the final base we took from the Vanu to lock Searhus (Markov). I arrived just prior to the hack in my mosquito, and could see that while the battle had moved inside, it was still fierce and the body count scrolling in the window was high. After a minute or two, we had the hack and the action died down. The TR presence at the base was overwhelming, and towers were ours as well, so no more enemies came. No bid deal, right? Plenty of action beforehand to ensure decent experience to wait out the hack. Well, two things happen when you have a bunch of TR goons hanging out with nothing to do. The TKs scroll predictably in the window ... and from high above of course I see players at various times laying waste to the turrets. And of course the base is very low on NTU to begin with. SO with only a couple minutes to go on the hack, guess what happens? That's right folks, the base runs out of NTU repairing the turrets and goes neutral - the hack is cancelled. So its rehacked. But guess what? That twelve or so minutes prior to the new hack, absolutely no enemies were around. I got 20 points for the hack after waiting almost a half hour hanging in the sky doing nothing. The TR goons that destroyed those turrets cost everyone in the area THOUSANDS of experience points. So please, spread the word to those lacking an understanding of the game mechanics. Thanks for listening, I had to rant this off my chest. |

Good point I too have seen this happen numerous times except this was when the base was low on power and people kept hacking the vehicle term and getting tanks AMS etc etc I only saw 1 ant come out of the whole thing. so I was to the point of destroying the vehicle term because I had said repeatedly and no one listened STOP MAKING VEHICLES YOUR GONNA KILL THE HACK. and as soon as I pull out my chain gun the base goes down the hack is killed. I waited and we only got 500 exp when we could quite possibly have gotten closer to 4000 or so.
Oh yeah the reason I didn't kill any of them is because I already had a high Grief Points. (hehe tried out a pounder max) |

yeah, this is definitely an instance when TK'ing is justified. Truth be told, your grief level doesn't really start to affect you until you get in the 700 mark area, so blast those terminals if the idiots don't know anybetter. Better yet, pass the word and any no0b idiot who thinks otherwise can get gang raped by your squad, thats always fun.

What really sucks is that you get the hack and try to defend your base, but all the damn turrets are blown up. Then during your defense, the base runs out of power because the base was repairing the turrets.
Reaver pilots are the worse offenders of blowing up wall turrets after the hack. Problem with stopping them is, it's hard to see their name unless you get really close.

i can surely understand why someone would still shoot the turrets, i just mean, if it's crowded with teammates ok, then it's not so obviously to shoot the turrets but if like one platoon is in, and the turrets start to take out about 2 or more men, then it's simply a reflex to start taking it out...

No reason is reason to TK, ever, end of story. Its things like this that lead to huge TK parties. It is better just to tell them to stop, and try and get others (esp in their squad/outfit) to tell them to stop. TKing is not the answer. The way I see it is that I will shoot EVERY turrit that is maned by an enemy, or is about to be maned by an enemy (some dude running twords it). If it shoots me, or is about to shoot me, Ill kill it, otherwise ill leave it alone. If it isnt about to kill you, no reason to waste rescources on dealing with it.
