I was going to post this idea in a response to a thread on the sony boards... but I cant because im not a subscriber because Ive been waiting for them to fix a few problems i noticed in BETA. (This may change soon)
Anyway, The guy was worried about Orbital Strikes ruining gameplay because every couple battles would be unbalanced because of strikes. Easy solution to that is make sure the Commander is within a certain distance of the waypoint call in the strike, and add a timer that stands for the time it takes the orbital platform to get into position. If the commander is killed during that time the strike is canceled. To stop ppl from just spamming strikes every time they respawn, make it cost outfit points/reset timer when you call in the strike, not when it hits. |

I think you missunderstand oribtal strikes. They are percise not supa powerful. Imagine a bunch of Prowlers sitting ontop of a hill pounding away at a base. They are all within liek 40 feet of eachother. CR5 guys sees it and drops the strike on them. A few of the prowlers are only damaged being outside of this 40 foot diameter (20 foot radius). It is not an uber nuke that will destroy a base. Think about the ion cannon in Tibiruim Sun or origonal C&C it only could acctualy damage one biulding at a time and even against infantry it would only zap the ones in about a 2 unit squre radius.

I guess its natural for people to cry "nuke" when they hear orbital strike because it sounds so powerful...
I believe orbital strikes are going to be useless against anything but deployables, AMS/other stationary vehicles acting like turrets, and base turrets. It is not going to "destroy bases" The thing is going to be the size of a pinpoint if you're zoomed out on the continent map.

I just want to get to CR5 so I can use the orbital strike to TK especially stupid people. I can picture it now, some idiot TK me, I find him again and call down holy hell on his face. Owned. Of course I don't have the patience to get to CR5, nor would my outfit look kindly upon using up points for stupid reasons if I did. Oh well, one can dream.

Lol just thought of something. Situation NC have gained access to TR sanctuary. Every single CR 4 &5 NC gather into one big platoon or two and call down holy hell. Then they run away and hide like inside the warp gate or something. That would also be funny too a Cr5 guy is cowering inside a warp gate and like 500 enemy are outside waiting for him to come out (mabye hes in their sanc warpgate so he cant escape) os he justcalls down orbital strikes (i really hope u cant do that)
