Started a character with the pheonix guided missile launcher and i absolutely love it. Iv gotten many points by killing MAX's and vehicles. I even killed a full armored MAG one on one. The only thing i think it needs is maybe a secondary fire mode. Heres why.
Say your facility was just hacked and theres a big battle going on. Now when you fire the pheonix and begin to guide it your stading still. This secondary mode will turn the pheonix into dumb fire. So that way u can use strategy if trying to flush out the CC. For example if u walk in the CC and see an anchored DC MAX guarding it, then u walk out of the room and switch to secondary mode. The u run in strafing towards the other door and dumb fire it so u can still move while the misile is heading towards the target, instead of standing there completely at the mercy of his miniguns until u guide it into him. I see people with strikers using this tactic all the time, same thig with decimators, rocklets and even grenades and lancers

it's called a dessimator(sp). The phoniex is already powerful enough. It is the only weapon in the game that doesn't require line of site. Which in my opionion is bs. I know all the NC pheonix whores will flame me for this. But I prefer to do battle with people I can see, not those hiding behind buildings or on the other side of walls. If you want it to be a awesome weapon for indoor fighting too, you sir are getting very greedy.

Also, i also think it's BS that you can wire guide a rocket. It is artillery, something the dev's promised wont be in game -end- |

ok squeeky. I realize a grenade bouncing around a wall isn't exactly line of site, but it is a huge jump from shotting rockets from behind buildings and steering them into unsuspecting targets. You are right about the artillery statement though. But It's to late to do anything about it now. Can you image how much the NC would bitch if the devs changed it at the point, even though the promised there would be no weapons like that in the game. I don't really care if they leave it as is. But Bitching to have it improved, I mean...come one. People bitch alot about the NC jackhammer, well...I'd much rather fight a guy with a JH cause at least I can see him and shoot back at him. Fighting missles coming from the sky isn't my idea of fun.

IMHO, the Phoenix doesn't have the range to really qualify as artillery, though in a short range battle, it can be devastating as such. Especially if you're trying to take a tower on a hill, or something similar.
I don't think it would be so bad to give the Ph a dumbfire mode -- it does pretty lousy damage (compared to devastator, for instance), and requires a reload after each shot... |

u bitch too much. if a weapon annoys u find a way around it.
if u get shot by the pheonix alot dont stand out in the open in as a big max "hit me" target. send one guy out to see where the fires coming from and then get the rest of ur squad to blow his ass away when he fires the rocket. |

Correct me if I'm wrong, but with the Striker, once you attain lock, you don't have to have line-of-anything.
You guys think it's BS that we can shoot over walls when we know you're there, and we think it's BS that your homing missiles come at us insanely fast and in much larger quantities at our flyers. I was only a reaver pilot for a short time, but it doesn't take long to realize that if you get "missile lock" you're not going to avoid it unless you can turn 180 very quickly, have full afterburners, and a little luck. Of course I could be completely wrong. I've never researched it, and I've never played TR long enough to say I know. Enlighten me. edit: my point was, we're both not enjoying getting killed.. But that's the point right? Do you really want to bitch and moan so much that we're all running around with flowers and teacups? At least then we wouldn't get that feeling that everyone hates. You know, where you slam the mouse down, throw the headphones, and yell "WHAT THE F***"

This is exactly why most competent striker users will fire off one or more missiles, prior to acquiring the lock. If you don't, all the target has to do is dip behind a tree/hill/etc, and you've just wasted 3 rounds of ammo. (edit...flies not flys ) |

Strikers aren't THAT hard to avoid in aircraft.
The moment you see that "missle lock", you have to afterburn and DIVE! Break their LOS, and the missles go dumbfire... you're save. Getting them to smack into a wall, tree, or hill is nice too. Afterburn FIRST, not turn first. Velocity is your friend. A skilled soldier with a Striker will have all three missiles in the air before you see the missle lock, so Mosquitos will sometimes die before they react, but a healthy Reaver should be able to get away 9 times out of 10. You can do this with the Lightening for crying out loud. Just zig-zag through some trees or tall rocks. Out in the open though, you're pretty much toast. |

All I know is, I feel sorry for people in MAX suits. I've used striker/phoenix/lancer on them, indoors and out, and it just seems like it sucks to be one.
I don't feel sorry for aircraft though. You flyboy bastards wait until I get my Skyguard!!! EDIT: No, the Phoenix needs to stay as it is. I once thought that a secondary fire mode was necessary, but after all the MAX's, reavers, and vehicles I've put down, a secondary fire mode would be absurd.
