For some reason, I think that the Sweeper is more powerful than the Jackhammer, it's just that the Jackhammer fires faster. Am I wrong?

Refire rate for the jackhammer is increased vs the sweeper. Jackhammer holds 16 rounds while the Sweeper only holds 8.

Here is the question, revised.
I shoot Hamma once with a Sweeper, then switch to Jackhammer and shoot once. Which one shot did more damage?

I played for a while on my nc character now... and let me tell you that the jackhammer owns the sweeper.
I made 2 runs one after the other first I tried jackhammer and made a 20 or so kills in that run... with the sweeper it was a mere 5 kills then I got shot from medium range (and the sweeper doesnt like it) jackhammer all the way! (it's gonna get owned by lasher once the patch goes thru tho)

dont know about it being owned by the lasher. The people at SOE didnt listen to the community when they asked for faster projectile speeds. All they did was increase the refire rate, so now people can still dodge the bolts, they'll just have more to dodge.

The way I understand it is that the sweeper does a bit less damage than the Jackhammer, under 5m range, but the Jackhammer damage drops hugely over 5m and the sweeper damage is more moderately reduced with each range increase.
Thus, the sweeper does more damage at medium range, but otherwise is a lesser weapon. Like comparing a modern-day 12 gauge pump shotgun with a sawed off 10 gauge semi-auto shotgun that had an extended magazine modification and a faster refire time. And I still like the Lasher better, hehe, but maybe just because I like flinging glowing blue spheres at folks.

The Lasher is litterly gonna own anything indoors after the patch, if it's how it's gonna be on the test server, it takes around 3 shots to agile-standard, 5 reinforced, 15 or so to MAXs...I could be off one or two, but I *THINK* this is how it's gonna be.

The Sweeper and Jackhammer do the exact same damage per actual projectile fired. The Jackhammer just fires more of them, fires them faster, and holds more rounds per clip. The Sweeper fires slower, fires less actual projectiles, and holds less rounds per clip.
So no the sweeper is not more powerful than the Jackhammer. At medium range it's a toss up but any assault rifle will own them both so /shrug

The Jackhammer will not get owned by a Lasher when the patch goes through. The Lasher will just be a weapon you gotta respect now. Which means the many JH players are going to actually have a challenge now. Many will meet the challenge head on and be fine. Many will get their asses handed to them because they've been using the JH as a crutch. I'd expect the NC population to decline somewhat after this patch however. Vanu may get a boost in population now. They'll have a good HA weapon along with the ever popular Magrider... very attractive indeed for the flavor of the month types.
