Maturity and Gamers, what's your Opinion?

Apparantly people like to pay to argue in an interactive 3D chat room. Today while waiting for the hart to arrive back at the Sanctuary, a player by the name of kujax decided to basically say that all who're above BR7 have no life and that people who pour their time into games are pathetic. I know I shouldn't have even bought into his ploy to stir up some heat, but I did anyway. He went on to say that Planetside is a dead end game, blah blah blah. I asked him if he thought that why was he paying for a subscription? No real response, except for some comment about graduating high school. So I said to myself, whatever, I could care less and got on the hart. He must have still been in the Sanctuary attempting to run rhetorical circles around me, because he sent me a tell a minute or two later asking if I 'had enough'? I decided to break down the whole reason why I had logged into Planetside for him, hoping it would shut him up. He went back to the whole 'PS has no future' line that so many have used and mentioned that he played CS and was CAL-I. At that point, I laughed to myself and proceeded to /ignore. The genius basically proved himself wrong.

Why can't people just stfu and play?

I was curious though, what do you guys think of the maturity level of the average gamer? Have you played any games in the past and managed to never run into morons like the above?

It's part of every game.

I learned that during the Tribes "flame wars" where homicide was made an ass of. It's a lotmore fun if you don't take it personally.

who cares, you're a person on the internet, you can shoot your team or you can shoot the other team.

it's easy enough to change identities, nothing is permanent.

Personally i think it depends on the game genre. FPS games such as CS, Tribes, etc. will attract alot more of the 'immature kids' than, say, RTS games like Age of Kings or Rise of Nations. Sure, you will always have some of them wherever you go (everyone has different tastes in games) but the killing mentality of FPS games seems to attract the scum from the bottom of the barrel better than other games. Maybe because you can easily own/pwn ( pawn comes to mind whenever someone says that .. i cant help it ) someone and you then become leet . <-- also what i think of when i see that.

In the end, though, they are in every game. Just learn to shrug them off as little kids and squelch them.
